Hello sisters!
Hopefully you're pressing on in the faith and in your duties faithfully. We want to stay faithful to the end don't we. Each day does matter too. The Lord help us through these evil times. We are salt and light on this earth. May we not grow lukewarm or compromise as that is perilous for our soul. The Lord deserves so much better of course. He is so worthy and has also called us to walk worthy of Him, which is a high calling but He helps us! So blessed we are to have His written word to guide us.
I'm sharing some edifying and encouragement for us women here.
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
1 Peter 3:1-4
And we see the word conversation is one that simply means our behavior doesn't it. Our actions do matter. We as women are not to be asserting authority over men or teaching them but as this scripture clearly shows, it is our holy behavior that is important. It shows us that having a meek and quiet spirit is of great price to God. It shows us that outward adorning is not what we are to have. That is vain and of the flesh and the lusts of the eyes and pride of life...of the world. We do not need to look far in the world to see that it values outward adorning very much.
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
1 John 2:15-17
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.Proverbs 31:30-31
Yes we even see in Proverbs that it is our actions that are meaningful and not empty outward appearances.
And this is another good scripture for us women, of the truth to walk in.
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
1 Timothy 2:9-15
And from what I can tell, the 'modest apparel' is meaning an orderly long garment. We also see the words shamefaced and sobriety along with this which are also good to ponder. But it ties in to both the 1 Peter 3 and Proverbs 31 scripture as it again mentions good works as what we are to have. It is our actions that are speaking. And the good works could be a variety of things but I get the picture of usefulness, serving, and helping others with our hands in laboring and also helping others with our possessions as the situations arise. We all have different lives and opportunities but may we do our best in the lives the Lord has called us in, sisters.
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.Galatians 6:10
So may we keep pressing on in what the Lord has given us!
Love, mercy, and peace to you in the Lord.
