Encouragement Notes for Trials in Christ

Greetings sisters!

I hope you are striving and strong in the Lord!

Today I wanted to share what I was writing down in my notes for myself to check back at when facing trials. I had one or two thoughts so I started writing and these are what came to me in about ten minutes of thinking so I'm sure there is much much more. And then I included some encouraging and appropriate scriptures here which can strengthen us all! They are in no particular order or anything but I share them anyway. (I use some of my older scripture pictures and some new too.)

So perhaps these can bless you too in your own life sisters, because we all know we are not going to have an 'easy' life! And we all face many of the same things as we walk in the truth of His Word and deal with those around us.

---------------------------------------

*Don't look at the wind and waves look at Christ! (don't look at the problem. Trust in Christ and live right no matter what.)

"But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?"

Matthew 14:27-31

*Rejoice in persecution!

"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."

Matthew 5:11-12

*Don't fear being alone.

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."

Psalm 23:4

*I am accountable for myself to God!

*Don't compromise to please people!

"For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ."

Galatians 1:10

*Don't be partial!

"I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality."

1 Timothy 5:21

*God is holy!!!

*Know God's Word.

*Stand on truth!

"Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;"

Ephesians 6:14

"I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father."

2 John 1:4

*Be strong in faith!

"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."

1 John 5:4

*All things work together for good!

*Don't worry about tomorrow!

"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."

Matthew 6:34

*Be ready to give an answer!

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"

1 Peter 3:15

*Shine a light so God is glorified and others may see the truth!

*Pray for wisdom, strength and peace!

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed."

James 1:5-6

*Trust in the Lord!

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

Proverbs 3:5-6

*Bless enemies and those who persecute you!

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."

Matthew 5:44-45

*Put on the armour! It's a spiritual battle!

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."

Ephesians 6:10-13

*Jesus said few will find it and narrow is the way!

*I can do all things through Christ!

*God is in control!

"But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand."

Isaiah 64:8

"For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that."

James 4:15

*Christ is coming back for His own!

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

*If we stand the test and overcome we shall be with the Father and all His holy saints!

"He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels."

Revelation 3:5

*Nothing in this life is worthy to be compared with the glory to come!

*Rejoice in the Lord!

So I hope my notes might edify and bless you as well. They were rather impromptu but it will be good to look back over them at times myself. I'm starting to think of more I could add but I'm going to stop there.

Lord willing, I shall be back tomorrow.

Strive on in Christ, sisters!

"Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.

Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.

For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name."

Hebrews 13:12-15

Greetings sisters!

"Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,"

2 Peter 1:2

Today I will share a few scripture passages to edify us all. (I was almost finished my post here when it somehow vanished so I'm starting over again:-).

I was sharing this passage...

"But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 3:7-14

And I read this this morning...

"They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert. And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul."

Psalm 106:13-15

And we certainly don't want leanness in our souls! Let us be content with what the Lord has for us and rejoice in it.

I love this one...

"By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;

Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward."

Hebrews 11:24-26

There's so much about losing things here but gaining so much more in the world to come!

A sister and I were sharing....

Amen!

Kind, tenderhearted, forgiving!

"With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."

Ephesians 4:2-3

Forbearing one another in love! Lowliness, meekness, long suffering, and peace. All good things for us to be striving for as sister saints.

Love...

"Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things."

1 Corinthians 13:7

"Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law."

Romans 13:10

A sister sent this scripture picture...

Praise God for godly Titus 2 women going about their duties joyfully and who love the Lord and the brethren.

And one picture of what I did a lot of today...

And the end of my day...

OK sisters I hope that could bless and edify you. Lord willing I shall be back tomorrow!

"But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses."

1 Timothy 6:11-12

Simply Sharing and Sewing

Greetings again sisters!

I'm back again with some more simple encouragement and edification from the Word. And also sharing a few things from my days recently.

"O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!"

Romans 11:33

"For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word."

Isaiah 66:2

(A sister and I were sharing.)

That's so true. You can see that from what people around you spend their time, thoughts, energy and money on. And it's most likely on things that are not good and are time wasting worldly activities. And sadly many who claim the name of Christ have their lives wrapped up in so many idle things. And in all that God grows so small to them and so they don't have the right view of God for one thing. God is so big and infinite and holy and for us we want to focus on Him and things above.

"Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God."
Colossians 3:2-3

And I'll share a few pictures and things from my days. They can say more than words many times. And as women we have many simple duties of life in order for us to live down here...like as it says being content with food and raiment. So many people these days are looking for more and more stuff and for a great life down here. But our hope is to come for all eternity with the Lord!

Simple potato soup...

Praise God for giving us our daily bread.

This is a video of the lambs playing outside my room window the other day...

So funny and cute!

I've been doing a lot of sewing problem solving of late. Because I am getting into sewing with a different fabric, I need to learn how to sew with it without issues arising. There are many things that affect the final result so they all have to be just right.

This little tool helps...

It helps feed the fabric through from the top as well...

(I like watching it do that:-)

And using a twin needle helps too...

Which sews the double rows of stitching at once...

For on the hem of a knit fabric skirt...

That is supposed to help the hem seam to have a little bit more stretch instead of just breaking (if trodden on for example as we all do with our long skirts at times) as the fabric itself is very stretchy. Store bought knit skirt hems etc are sewn with a special expensive machine but I am doing what I can with a sewing machine (and a serger). So that should work fine.

I had a bit of lint to clean off the machine too...

The knife on the serger creates a lot.

So anyway, I got 3 new skirts up on my shop today so that's satisfying...especially after many trials.

But that's absolutely nothing compared to the reward we will get with the Father and eternal life if we endure and overcome!

"He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels."

Revelation 3:5

"But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."

Matthew 24:13

Let us press on to that sisters!

(Thank you for those sister saint:-)

So that is a few things from me. May it bless you godly Titus 2 sisters! I hope your duties are going well too in whatever they are.

Strive on in the truth!

"Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."
John 17:17

"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful."
Colossians 3:12-15

For Your Day

Greetings today sisters!

I wanted to pop in here with a post for you with a few things to edify us all.

It certainly helps to remind myself at least when I think this life in Christ is hard that we must not care what anyone else thinks of us. We live to please God, to bring Him glory, and to prepare for eternity. It's about having an undivided heart for the Lord. We certainly will have to disappoint, stand against, or avoid family or other people in order to obey God first. And it is all out of love for God and ultimately love for others who in the end can only see truth if someone stands for it.

"For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ."

Galatians 1:10

A sister and I were messaging...

And she wrote this and shared a scripture passage...

"And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."

1 Corinthians 9:23-27

It's a good one to think about and how we are in a race! And we must endure it and see it through to the end. And in that we cannot allow anyone to distract us or try to lure us away from our focus on Christ and things above. And we just take it one day at a time and not worry about tomorrow.

I read this Psalm this morning and I thought it was edifying to ponder.

"I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.

I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.

I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

I cried unto thee, O Lord : I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me."

Psalm 142:1-7

Indeed all our hope and trust must be in the Lord. He is our refuge! We know there are so few who love the Lord and obey Him so we must look to Him for all our strength and hope!

"When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up."

Psalm 27:10

How wonderful that we can be part of Christ's family!

"But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother."

Matthew 12:48-50

We have a great and mighty Father, sisters!

"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not."

1 John 3:1

Our God is indeed our refuge and all we really need.

Praise God that He has His people wherever He has them.

"Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace."

Romans 11:5

One day if we endure we shall all rest from our labours and be with Him and all those who love Him.

Thank you sister for these...

What wonderful scriptures!

I shall go for now. I hope this could bless and edify your day in the Lord.

Until tomorrow...

Refreshing in Titus 2

Greetings sisters!

How are you Titus 2 godly women?

Today I thought we could refresh ourselves a bit in Titus 2 for women.

There is much in scripture about keeping things in mind and we see we need reminders lest we find ourselves being moved even if ever so slightly. There is so much depth to this life in Christ and all the different aspects and His ways of truth to walk in.

As Peter said...

"Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;"

2 Peter 1:12-13

And as Paul said to Timothy...

"If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained."

1 Timothy 4:6

Of course we have to make sure our foundation is correct on Christ. So many things in this life as believers need constant reminders as we endure through daily.

"Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;"

Hebrews 2:1-3

First of all making sure we are rooted in Christ and His gospel and not false ways. Then when we are new creations in Him by the Spirit we build upon that with our lives, our works, and will bring forth good fruit.

"That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;"

Colossians 1:10

As Titus 2 starts out we know that what is written is sound doctrine which is what we want to be walking in. I know we are very familiar with this passage but it's good to stop and think about it more deeply.

"The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."

Titus 2:3-5

And we can look at these areas a little...

Chaste - pure, holy, modest

"And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure."

1 John 3:3

Discreet - sober, sound mind, self controlled, temperate

Good

"But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works."

1 Timothy 2:10

"Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God."

3 John 1:11

Love husband and children

"And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these."

Mark 12:30-31

"Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work."

1 Timothy 5:10

Obey husband

"Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord."

Colossians 3:18

"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church."

1 Corinthians 14:34-35

You can find some posts I did with greater detail on Titus 2 here. But today it's just a brief reminder and some other verses for us to ponder.

And as it says the older women are to be teaching the younger women. Obviously they have to be mature and have those qualities they are teaching others lest they be hypocritical. And their daily lives lived also will be a light to those younger or less mature in the faith.

We certainly all are to strive for perfection. Of course much maturity comes through experience, time, and enduring too, indeed just everyday life experience as a believer growing in the Lord.

And even in this area of Titus 2 we can find ourselves either not as strong on all those points or not doing them in the right manner or with the right motive. God knows all our hearts and nothing is hid from Him. Of course we want to be not only obeying God's commandments but of course also doing them in the right manner and with the right heart and motive. We do them unto Him first to obey Him and we are to be content and have the attitude of a lowly servant all out of love first for God and then others.

Within something like being a keeper at home there are a lot of different aspects to consider. All must be in line with the rest of scripture as to how and what we do in that. Or in the area of being sober there are a lot of different areas of our lives affected by it. It goes along with killing our flesh and being in control of our actions and words.

So I think that's it from me. Just a quick refresh in this which is never time wasted of course.

"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:"
Hebrews 10:23-24

"But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;"
Hebrews 3:13-14

And a fitting scripture from a sister...

There is to be much edifying and building up amongst the believers and we can do what we can online like this.

Lord willing I will be back with something else to share with you sisters tomorrow.

Love to all my fellow Titus 2 sisters!
