Today's Edification (19 September 2025)

Greetings sisters!

This is another day God gave us! His mercies and goodness are on display in it! We just can get used to many things around us always being the same and can kind of take them for granted. But even the sunshine is God's mercy on the good and on the evil. We have a lot of sunshine here right now and the rain is starting to be less but still there's so many of His mercies around us. We don't deserve any of them.

A sister and I were sharing and we were talking about women in the Word. I thought I'd just share what I shared with her as it may edify us all as women...

Yes sometimes I wonder if any of the accounts of women being healed actually ended up being later named as with Jesus. I sure would be so thankful to want to serve Him as those women were...with their substance as no they were not teaching or being apostles or His close disciples He chose.

Luke 8:3

And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

It is very interesting that what these women were doing has now become widely known.

Luke 24:8-11

And they remembered his words, [9] And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest. [10] It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. [11] And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

I believe people who try to convince others who don't have faith use this as an evidence that it is not a fabricated story of the resurrection as you wouldn't include women in such a story. They had some different views about them back then or something. Some people did at least, though we do not see our Lord telling them to stop following Him or anything as also He called children to Him and did not rebuke them like His disciples did. But I am sure these women were just quietly doing their acts of love and serving never knowing what was unfolding which included them! Praise God! Another reminder that He uses the weaker things too as in that scripture I shared earlier and indeed women are mentioned as being the weaker vessel.

Reminds me of this scripture too...

Matthew 26:13

Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

And the preceding verses are also interesting...

Mark 14:6-8

And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. [7] For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. [8] She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

Jesus defending the woman from man's judgement and praising her good work! Good encouragement for us too!

Yes it is interesting and encouraging to hear of accounts of faithful women who were not doing anything for show but their good works have now been proclaimed wherever the gospel has gone out! And indeed whoever has the written word of God has the gospel too so we know it has gone into a large portion of the world now! Sadly many don't read it and many read and don't heed or do it but let us look at our own life and make sure our actions are fitting of the gospel. We must keep sober and responsible about our actions.

So keep pressing on in your own duties in front of you sisters! Those are pleasing to God too as we are to be faithful in what we have and are.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Proverbs 31:30

God sees us all and that includes those labouring in the home, keeping it and raising children or whatever life you have! Don't grow weary in it sisters! Love to you in His name.
