Greetings again sister saints!
Here's another day to share in the Lord. I hope you're soldiering on patiently in the life the Lord has given you! I am keeping busy here in a lot of housework and such. There are busier times and somewhat quieter times but both are good and have their good purposes! We are blessed because we always have the Lord as our refuge and strength and help and comfort and so much more!
I just came across this psalm and was reading it and wanted to share it too!
O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.
Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.
They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;
That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.
Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.
Psalm 94:1-23
Just a good one with a lot of various comforting words and thoughts in for us as we abide faithful to Him.
And it's interesting when you come across ones that are mentioned in the New Testament too. I was recognizing that first verse from Romans 12 but it also got me pondering the concept as well.
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.Romans 12:19
To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.Deuteronomy 32:35
Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.Leviticus 19:18
That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.1 Thessalonians 4:6
And then I was pondering what avenging is and how even saying nasty words back to someone who said them to you could be a form of it couldn't it. We are to return good for evil and not evil for evil. But we can rest and leave all such things in His hands and seek to please Him ourselves, as we know we have in the past and still may fail. Jesus our Lord is a perfect example in this when He stood before His accusers and murderers.
And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.
But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.
Mark 15:3-5
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.
Luke 23:34a
Let us follow our Saviour in the ways that may apply to us!
Keep pressing on in your duties as godly women sisters! The Lord told us what roles He gave to women and how He wants us to behave. I am thankful to know. And may He help us live out His will in the particular lives that we do have. Each is different but let us be faithful in what we do have. Hold fast to the truth sisters. Mercy, peace, and love to you in His name.
