Greetings in the Lord, sisters!
God is good and we have been granted another day to keep occupied in good works while He is absent and we walk by faith. We want to be faithful servants of His don't we. Our Master will surely return! Will we be found ready and will He be able to say of us, "Well done, good and faithful servants!"? It is a high calling, but He is so worthy of so much! He has done so much for us whereof we are glad!
It is good to revisit this scripture as it is one for us as women. And while it is specifically addressing married women there is much to learn for all of what qualities and character we are to have and what we are not to be doing.
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
1 Peter 3:1-6
It talks about our 'conversation' and that is our behaviour and way of life etc. We are to be holy in that. It is also clear here along with 1 Timothy 2 that we are not to be adorning ourselves externally but instead internally with meek and quiet spirits. This is of great price to God. Indeed as this scripture also says...
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Proverbs 31:30-31
And it ties in with being humble and living for the next life too, not loving this world down here. We are to use our money wisely also. There are a lot of different scriptures that help guide us on many subjects in life. He has given us all we need to know! May we keep seeking what His will is in His Word.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.James 1:22
