Today's Edification (28 March 2026)

Greetings sisters!

Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
2 John 1:3

It is uplifting to start our days pondering the Lord's goodness! Yes the days keep coming and going and we may have a lot of the same things to do over and over again. But in the Lord we can do all things with joy. We don't want to have the idea that He wants us to be doing something greater than what we are. Yes there may be other things He could lead us into but the simple daily life things including serving others, if you have a husband or children or other saints or others in your life you help or care for, then it's important of course to serve. We see women in the Word doing a lot of that too. They served Jesus with their possessions too. No, we don't want to be anxious and troubled about getting our serving just right, as we can learn from Martha, but it is wrong to neglect our duties.

Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.

But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Luke 10:38-42

Laziness is also condemned in the Word.

For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
2 Thessalonians 3:10-12

We see what happens in the world when women (and men too) neglect their roles in the family. We have parents sending their children away for others to raise and teach. And the woman instead goes to earn money. And no I am not against women working and earning money when the situation is right but we know women are to be raising their children if they have them, keeping and guiding the home, and being helpers to their husbands.

This scripture comes to mind and it is a strong one indeed for us to ponder.

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
1 Timothy 5:8

And this is also encouraging, the good qualities of an ellegible widow for aid...

Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man, Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
1 Timothy 5:9-10

Another example of a hard working, serving, caring woman here...

I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.
Romans 16:1-2

And another one here...

Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

Acts 9:36-42

Good encouraging accounts for us to learn from and to keep pressing on in what we have been given. So I encourage us all to ponder the lives we do have and make sure we are being faithful in them and doing our best! The Lord help us!

Love, mercy, and peace unto you in His name.
