Today's Edification (9 April 2025)

Salutations to my godly sisters!

Here we are on another day! It is unique as we will never get it again! Let us redeem it in good works for our Lord! We are servants of God, His daughters, saints, heirs of the heavenly kingdom. How many riches we have in Christ!

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:6-7

Let us strive to walk worthy of Him and bring Him honour and not reproach.

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Ephesians 6:16

This scripture stood out to me and sometimes different things mean more at other times. The fiery darts of the wicked...yes we quench them by faith! Let our faith be strong in our Lord and trusting He knows all things as well. Vengeance is His on all who cast the fiery darts at God's people too. We know satan is the accuser of the brethren as well and we sure know his fate. It amazes me how passive (if that's the right word) God's people are to be when facing evil. I can think of Jesus for a start how He was mostly quiet before His accusers and tormentors. He taught us to turn the other cheek, to reward blessing for cursing, good for evil, to live peaceable with all as best we can. Saints were killed for the faith and no godly saints would gather together an army and fight back physically! Some would consider this a weakness but it is not at all! Our Lord was not weak standing mute before His accusers, suffering unjustly. It takes a lot of will power to do so. It is strength really! The way of the flesh is retaliation, getting even, paying back, having the last word, fighting and quarreling but God's ways are the opposite! We cannot claim to be God's people if we aren't willing to obey all His ways! But we do know it is a spiritual battle we are in. So we are soldiers in this and in standing for truth ourselves. But we never can force others to obey. That is not our job but the Spirit and the Words.

But of course the faith life is a very active one in striving against sin in our lives. It is not 'Jesus paid it all and I am good to go no matter how I live'. No we must strive to enter the kingdom and yes it's not the old burdensome law but a new and living way which works by love through faith! We do not compromise on truth and must contend for it at times. But there are still areas we are to be 'passive' in and in doing so we are actually being active to obey the Lord and not follow the ways of the flesh!

Let us sisters keep living the truth in our own lives as that is of course our first responsibility. And really the only soul that we can tend and keep diligently is our own. While we can help others or share truth, everyone makes their choices and will give account before the Lord.

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
Romans 12:12

Yes let's keep doing that sisters! His Word is encouraging to press us on! And indeed all our hope is in our Saviour! I'm glad we have hope and are not all doomed in our sin! But we must leave sin and go in the right way.

I hope all your Titus 2 duties are going well! And yes that actually doesn't only refer to the keeping of the house or caring for children or being a godly wife but it also involves being discreet, chaste, good, and sober as well! And indeed it is sound doctrine and that is so important we abide in. Truth matters and Jesus is the truth and it is His word we live by, every word of it. So let us keep walking out the faith diligently.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
2 Corinthians 13:14
