Today's Edification (22 September 2024)

Greetings sisters!

I hope this finds you pressing on after the Lord and His truth! I encourage you to keep doing that with all that you are as nothing else really matters! Of course from that comes how we actually live out our lives physically but His ways direct us in our days don't they! We keep pondering what we do and adjusting as needed!

Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
Proverbs 4:26-27

I was thinking how the counsel of the Lord is what stands!

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
Proverbs 19:20-21

And we find His counsel in the written Word don't we!

I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
Psalm 16:7

The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Psalm 33:11

O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.
Isaiah 25:1

Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
Isaiah 30:1

May His Word be our ultimate guide and no human or our own understanding.

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Proverbs 14:12
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6

I was listening to the first few chapters in 1 Samuel and there's quite a lot in there to ponder. It's encouraging seeing the great sacrifice Hannah made to give up her treasured son to the Lord from so young.

For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.
1 Samuel 1:27-28

This scripture stood out in comparison too when the Lord was speaking to Eli...

Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?

Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

1 Samuel 2:29-30

That's definitely a condition that was broken for God's promise to remain. We surely do have a part to remain faithful and eligible for God's promises. There's no doubt about that.

Also Hannah, in her sorrow, got falsely accused as a drunk too so another lesson for us to be very careful of what we assume about others and especially what we actually go so far as to say.

And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.

1 Samuel 1:14-16

It surely is something we should watch out for.

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
Titus 2:3

We are also to make right judgments as well.

Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
John 7:24

I'm thankful God knows the truth about all people...always! That's a comfort.

Thinking also about having an understanding heart...

Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

1 Kings 3:9-12

O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
Proverbs 8:5

We know understanding comes from the Lord!

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:6

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Proverbs 9:10

We don't want to be like this...

The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
Proverbs 21:16

A good subject to share some more scriptures on another time or to study more on!

Let us continue to cleave unto the Lord, continuing in the faith.

Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
Acts 11:23

Strive on sisters!

Much love in Christ,

Sister Chayil
