Today's Edification (15 December 2025)

Greetings sisters!

I hope you're doing well in the faith today. I have had a busy one of work.

I was listening to scripture yesterday and it stood out to me how three times it talked about us being quiet.

For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
2 Thessalonians 3:10-13

And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
1 Timothy 2:1-2

And I know we focus on the 1 Peter verse for women being quiet but it is not just for women obviously. Sometimes thinking of the opposite can help us understand what it is. As one of those scriptures mention, busybodies. We know there's people who do that, spending their time tearing others down and meddling in things they shouldn't and being trouble makers. It also is used in relation to work as well and not being idle. If you're working hard in good things...well it just goes along with being quiet as the work takes our focus.

It reminds me of scriptures on peace too, of which it is abundantly clear that is what we should pursue.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Hebrews 12:14
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Romans 12:18
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Matthew 5:9
May we be obedient to the Lord's commands in this also. His ways are good. Reminds me of how we are to be meek and gentle as well. There is a lot to ponder on what God wants from us. Yes we have to be strong in the faith and fight through spiritually but these are just some of the ways of obedience the Lord has for us in that.

Hold fast to the truth sisters and keep being lights in this dark world!

Mercy and love unto you in His name.
