Today's Edification (5 January 2025)

Greetings in the Lord to my godly sisters!

I am back on yet another day He created and gave us!

Here's a scripture to ponder today...

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Hebrews 13:5-6

We know covetousness is not to be once named among the saints and that it is idolatry.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
Ephesians 5:3
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
Colossians 3:5-6

And as it says be content with such things as we have. Contentment is a big area we sisters want to have and grow in isn't it. We know coveting other things is not pleasing to the Lord whom we love.

And in that first scripture I shared it mentions not fearing what man can do unto us too. Reminds me of this scripture too...

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10:28

We are to fear God alone. And in our human flesh there could be a number of reasons we may fear man whether we fear them harming us physically or fear them deceiving us or falsely accusing or slandering or stealing and any number of things. We just leave what others may be able to do in His hands as they can only kill the body at the most and are not able to kill the soul. Praise God for that! It's freeing not caring what man can say or do and leaving things to the Lord and living to please Him! And of course we are to beware of men and cautious and not let them deceive us. But we don't need to 'fear' them. We trust in our mighty Lord!

The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
Proverbs 29:25

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Psalm 37:23-25

That is a comforting promise that the Lord will not forsake His own. Now we do know sin separates so let us cast off all sin and weights that hinder us.

Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Isaiah 59:1-2

No we do not want to be separated from Him who is the only source of good and light and hope and peace and joy. May we trust in our Saviour to save us from our sins! He sets us free from the bondage of sin by giving us the power to overcome them and the ability to be forgiven with His precious blood. What a priceless gift this is and indeed a fountain for all uncleanness. Let us be washed!

In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.
Zechariah 13:1

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Revelation 1:5

I was pondering the Lord's righteousness. And indeed we are to seek it ourselves.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33

It's just very refreshing to think of that which is right in this world where so very much is wrong!

For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
Psalm 11:7

And indeed we are to be righteous also.

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Romans 14:17

So let us press on sisters. The battle is still on so let us not grow weary in well doing. But we must through much tribulation enter the kingdom. So may we endure all hardness as good soldiers of Jesus Christ's!

Mercy, peace, and love to you. Farewell.
