Today's Edification (11 January 2025)

Hello again sisters!

Good to be writing back to you in good things that glorify Him! I hope you are all soldiering on in the faith!

Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
Luke 13:23-24

Truly our Saviour is the only way. May we follow Him through the Word and Spirit. I'm thankful for what has been written that we might believe and know the way!

Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

John 20:29-31

I was thinking how we do often see dates written like this 14/8/83-27/2/24 and such. It is the day of one's birth and the day of one's death. Are we ready for ours? We know our date of birth but only God knows our date of death and so it will happen when we get to that date. It's quite a sobering thought really and I was listening to scripture yesterday and it stood out how it said someone was ready to die. The Word says a lot about the subject. I heard this the other day too...

So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.

Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive.

Yea, better is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 4:1-3

It's quite a profound statement. But it's true that this world is filled with much tribulation.

It really very, very wise to consider our death and be prepared ahead.

A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.

It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.

Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.

The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.

Ecclesiastes 7:1-5

May we prepare to meet our God.

Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
Amos 4:12

May we be looking for His coming at all times found faithful and ready. It is certain that just as we were born...so we die. It is a fact of life in this world since the first sin. Yes we shall surely die although satan said we shall not surely die. And of course there's spiritual death which is far worse of course as to die physically and go to be with Christ is gain for a saint but spiritual death along with physical death is tragic and yet the reaping of what is sown. So may we not dabble with sin as it's wages are death. May we flee to our precious Saviour to protect us and atone for us after we repent. Praise God for the refuge we have in Him!

So may we choose life sisters...choose to follow Him no matter the cost, losing our lives and indeed hating them and bearing our cross.

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
1 John 5:11-12

Hold fast to the truth sisters! So much is at stake if we compromise. It is not worth gaining the 'world', let alone any other puny thing that people value, and losing a soul. Plus our Lord is our Creator and He says how His creation should function! May we fulfill that which He created us for!

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Revelation 4:11

Yes may we please Him!

I hope all your labours as godly women are going well! Probably a lot of Titus 2 and Proverbs 31 type things I'm sure, though I don't see God does! Keep pressing on with steadfastness in all good works! Love to you sisters.
