Today's Edification (5 December 2024)

Greetings sisters!

God is good on this day and forever! So glad we can trust in something in this life! He is our Rock and unchanging!

It is always a battle between good and evil in this world. I guess since they ate of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. May we sisters continue to follow that which is good and abhor that which is evil.

Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
3 John 1:11

For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

1 Peter 3:10-13

But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Hebrews 5:14

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Isaiah 5:20

The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
Proverbs 15:3

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Proverbs 31:11-12

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
Romans 12:9

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Matthew 12:35

Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:21

There's so many scriptures contrasting good and evil. And we make choices every day...hopefully all for good! But yes we can fail and fall but we don't want to so we keep striving on after that which is good!

Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
Amos 5:14

Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
Psalm 119:2

Yes we want our whole heart to be seeking Him!

I heard the parable of the wheat and tares the other day and it's actually encouraging to us 'wheat' to just keep striving on, growing where the Lord has planted us, as the tares also grow around us. He doesn't root out the tares lest we be rooted up also. Interesting to ponder on for sure!

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Matthew 13:24-30

Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Matthew 13:36-43

Oh sisters, keep striving hard after Him as we wisely consider all the warnings in scripture too as well as the glorious things of all He has done for us! We must live by every word of God...all the truth!

Well I will go now and Lord willing be back tomorrow. I hope you're all doing well and pressing on in the faith and enduring any hardness like good soldiers! Mercy and peace to you in love.
