Hello again sisters!
One more day I am blessed to come here to share some edifying in the Lord who is good! May our hearts be single for Him and undivided and may we be of one mind to serve, love, and obey Him.
Sharing a few scriptures from where I was reading today...
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.
Luke 9:23-26
Much to ponder in that. We must die when we come to Christ and keep mortifying the deeds of the body to live.
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.Romans 8:13
Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.Luke 10:36-37
We know the application of Jesus' teachings are broader than what He just showed us of course. I was pondering how it may not just be in physical things that we show mercy to people like in the account of the Samaritan helping the wounded man. There are people who may be spiritually wounded as well and many other such situations that we can show love and mercy if we come across them and not just look at them and pass on like the two men did to the wounded man in that account.
I also think about the Pharisees and how they had omitted the weightier matters one of which was mercy to others.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.Matthew 23:23-24
And these are good too...
But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.Matthew 9:13
But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.Matthew 12:7
They were not a merciful people. We can learn from them today though.
It's a serious thing not to be merciful...
For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.James 2:13
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.Matthew 5:7
The Lord help us sisters to be merciful! We are thankful for God's great mercy! May we model Him in this as He has commanded us also!
Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.Luke 6:36
The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.Psalm 145:8
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,1 Peter 1:3
Here are the last of the Ecclesiastes readings...
I'm just going about my days of garden work, sewing, cooking, washing dishes and such things. I'm sure my sisters are also well occupied in good pure and true things! It's good to ponder on the Word what God wants from us women from the beginning right through to all the specific commands in the New Testament. I'm thankful to have them to know how to walk pleasing to Him!
So I will go now for another day and if the Lord wills be back again in the next day! Keep pressing on in your duties sisters! The eyes of the Lord are upon us and so may we do all good things heartily as unto Him! Mercy and love to you in His name.
