Today's Edification (16 August 2024)

Hello my sisters!

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
2 Corinthians 9:15

I was thinking about that this morning. If possible it's good to have some time in the morning getting our heart and thoughts straight for the day! Well even if it's super busy from the start like if there's many children to look after etc you can still try to set your mind and heart for the day! And what better thing to think about than an unspeakable gift from God, and being thankful! God has given many gifts but a Saviour and the Spirit are great gifts!

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Acts 2:38-39

Praise God for that and it's good to start the day focusing on Him!

I had travel to a cleaning job today and got to listen to His Word. So I'm just sharing a few things that stood out. I try to make mental notes as I travel as according to the law of the land I can't even touch a phone while driving so I don't. But I write them down as soon as I can as I love to share good things from His Word with you sisters too! I had a few spare minutes before work to write them down in here!

This one stood out as Paul was being quite clear how the law was in effect until Christ came!

Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Galatians 3:19

Obviously there was still to be faith in God and His ways to obey even before the law and so it still is now!

Reminds me of this scripture too...

And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Acts 13:39

And I heard this one too and thought how much less are we! Not that we compare but we do know Paul was chosen of God for some very important things! But he had a very lowly view of himself as we all should!

Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
Ephesians 3:8

But all of us are equal in the Lord really and God is no respecter of persons! But it is good for us to feel as nothing and humble before the Lord and man. Indeed God uses the lowly and the meek and contrite and we all know we have sinned and fallen short and while this is shameful we thank God for His forgiveness and mercy and are thankful to serve Him!

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:31-32

Thankful for His Word and all the lists of things that do not please Him and things that do! He is good to guide us in this way!

So many petty flowers out this time of year! I saw a lot of these daffodils...

And there were a lot of pink and white blossoms all over as well and also a lot of yellow flowering trees scattered all over! I would have taken pictures if I could but hard to when they're on road sides! Glory to the Creator!

Here's some pretty birds I saw out the window of my second cleaning job...

I wasn't expecting to have two cleaning jobs today but the person I worked for on the first one asked if I could clean a house at their work so that was an extra blessing.

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Ephesians 4:28

I've been thinking of this scripture too. Not that we steal and need to stop but just about working so we can have to give to those in need. It's not about just working to keep for yourself and yes in our cultures true needs may be very few (and especially if people waste their money on unbiblical things they don't exactly need help supporting their ways) but we never know and we can most of all help saints if they need it too so we know it's good to labour for money if we can and our situation allows as women. Of course women with husbands and children focus is right there in the home and this is pleasing to the Lord also and a high calling for women!

Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
1 Timothy 2:15

Let us keep labouring in all sorts of good works that are pleasing to the Lord! We are not our own but His and here to serve others as well. We all have different lives and callings and whatever the Lord has for each of us is good if it's all things we know please Him!

I heard this scripture today as well and it is a good one to ponder on.

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
Acts 17:30-31

So much for the faith being an easy thing today! We have so much more light and truth revealed in the mystery of Christ so for sure we are held to a high standard! We know it's sorer punishment now than under the law.

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Hebrews 10:26-31

It is truly wise to keep these words of truth in our hearts.

Lord willing I shall be back here tomorrow! We never know what a day may bring forth, let alone a week or month or year! Our Lord knows though so let us commit and trust our lives into His hands! One thing He did tell us is this...

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33

So there's some precious promises there despite what we may go through. Our God reigns and as long as we stay close to Him He does to us! He is faithful. Hold fast my sisters!

Much love in Christ our Lord who first loved us!
