Today's Edification (21 July 2024)

Greetings my sisters!

Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
2 John 1:3

Grace, mercy, and peace...what precious gifts to ponder on and be thankful for!

Grace...

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Titus 2:11-12
And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 1:14

Mercy...

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Ephesians 2:4-5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
Titus 3:5-6

Peace...

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Ephesians 2:13-14
But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
Romans 2:10

Precious gifts God gave us. Let us not receive them in vain but labour to be pleasing to Him who has done all He could for us! His goodness is very great.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Psalm 23:6

A sister and I were talking today and being thankful that God told us the details in His Word. He didn't leave us to figure it all out on our own. Surely He is good and merciful and kind and loving and offers hope to us hopeless creatures without Him!

And I do know some people do not have access to His Word, some languages don't have it translated yet (just as English didn't for a time) and some people cannot read. I know God will judge accordingly and that's His business, but we who have it have no excuse and we will be judged accordingly.

And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
Luke 12:47-48

So let's be diligent with learning the truth the Lord teaches us in His Word. Read and understand and obey...all with His help of course!

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Timothy 3:15-17

For some reason I was researching the origins of birthdays a bit more. And while I don't promote or do so myself...using the internet for theology, it can be good to use for history and facts and such, not Bible truth (not to say there's not a lot of misinformation on there about anything too but there are things we can know and that are common knowledge). But I guess what I found was worse than I thought so I'm glad I repented of doing birthdays in the past. I encourage everyone who claims the name of Christ to test and reject all false ways.

Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:104-105

Jesus is the truth. False ways have no part with truth do they.

Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
Psalm 97:10
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Proverbs 8:13

It's another one of those things that would have been avoided by early believers and yet little by little things got accepted. And this is also a huge reason why christmas is also unacceptable to God and His children.

I had been guilty of this in the past, before I was in the truth, of not wanting to look into something for fear of what would be found and what it would mean I had to do. But that's so wrong and we know we must give up all things that are not good for Christ's sake and we are responsible for not seeking out the truth also. God knows our hearts...the good and the bad.

I hope what I share encourages you to keep pressing on in this faithless generation sisters. Keep in mind this is not a teaching blog though so I am not covering everything in great detail. You can contact me to ask anything anytime and I will be happy to give an answer to what I believe (or ask a brother to help if needed). We all have to seek out the truth in His Word and the Lord gives His people wisdom and especially if they ask for it as we do and should! It's quite a generation to live in with so much facing us all that saints haven't before. But the Lord will help us discern and we will get better at that as we mature in the faith. Some things we learn through trial and error and of course much is so clear in the Word of which I am thankful for. Perilous are the times but let us keep pressing on the best we can.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
2 Corinthians 6:17-18

Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
Matthew 18:27

May we remember the huge debt the Lord has forgiven us. How can we not go forth in our days in thankfulness for this?! (And surely we do not want to incur any more debt by continuing to sin!) And then it should also cause us to have mercy and forgiveness to our fellow man shouldn't it! Compared to how we have sinned against God, all that man may sin against us is so puny though.

Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
Matthew 18:33
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:32
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
Colossians 3:13

God's ways are good and precious!

May we esteem the reproach of Christ as greater riches than anything!

By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;

Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

Hebrews 11:24-26

If you read the truth of the Word we definitely see we are not promised an easy life.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33
Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
Acts 14:22

It's quite the opposite in fact but it's definitely without comparison the best life of course, here and especially with what is to come if we endure! His commandments are not grievous and while our flesh may not like parts of it, our spirit knows it is the greatest treasure to know this truth in Jesus!

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

Matthew 13:44-46

Keep pressing on my sisters! Keep enduring! Don't grow weary in well doing! Don't be discouraged if you fail...just get up and keep going! God's mercies are new and He is good and forgiving to His humble children. Keep running this race with patience! Look to Jesus our forerunner and the captain of our salvation and our merciful and faithful high priest! In Him is limitless strength!

Love in Christ,
