Today's Edification (7 June 2024)

Greetings sisters!

How are you today? Hopefully pressing on in the Lord! I am here. There's nothing else to do and nowhere else to go than to Him, and His Word! Everything else is empty and vain even if it may appeal to the temporal flesh in that it may make for an easier life down here. But our affections are above with Christ! We are dead and our life is hid with Christ in God!

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
John 6:68-69

I was thinking how people say we no longer need to keep the commandments of God to have any affect on salvation. But is not the call to believe in Jesus a command? The Word says it is. And we have to repent of unbelief really too don't we.

And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
1 John 3:23-24

Right there, we have the command to believe and love. People will take the one and say it's essential but not the other. But we know it is no longer the Old Testament law/works we are under as Christ has set us free from those in fulfilling them Himself! We now have a new and living way of faith which works by love! And it is in spirit and in truth not letter and flesh. Praise God for the better covenant we have to keep today. Let us faithfully do our part to the best of our ability. We know God is faithful to keep His part so we can fully trust Him!

After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
1 Corinthians 11:25

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

And having an high priest over the house of God;

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

Hebrews 10:19-24

I was thinking I'd make my daily posts more focused on simple edifying in the Word and then when I have some things to share from my daily life (maybe once a week or however it works best) I can have a post with those in too like I am here today. I guess I have many of the same things to do each day and while it may encourage you to know others have to do repetitive things too I still want the focus to be on the Word mostly. It's good to share daily life too! Just whatever it is, may it all be to His glory! Good, pure, and true things of light! And we have liberty to do that which is good with what we have to use. I want to use my blog faithfully for good and not for evil.

I got three skirts sewn this week...

Satisfying and I'm thankful. Yeah they might take a year or more to be sold but that's OK cuz it's good works to do and they're there if someone needs them!

And I got my sewing cards today

...to go out with the gospel in these little thank you cards I found.

No you don't have to go to elaborate measures but can do things simply and cheaply and show love in even all the little things you do...especially if you have the good news of Jesus with and you want to be a good witness for Him. Everything we do should be becoming of our faith in the one true God!

Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
Philippians 1:27

I am still dealing with a customer about their order which seems to have got lost in the mail even though it said it was delivered. Just the cares of this life. But it's interesting that this customer doesn't write in English but you can just click translate and be able to communicate. Surely reminding us of the tower of Babel and how man tries to do everything he imagines to do. One day God will step in again. And surely we reap some benefits of what the world does which we're using every day for good like technology etc. Obviously God allows man to do all he does and it's only using the things and intelligence God created so no glory to man.

And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Genesis 11:6-9

I made some pumpkin scones...

You can find the recipe here

Yes OK the last pumpkin picture cuz this is the last ones heading inside...
Good blessings.

Baby broccoli coming...
See if it makes it and nothing hungry comes along and has a feast! Sometimes if the conditions aren't right they just form many little heads which aren't as easy to use but I'll thankfully take whatever grows!

Pretty creations...

And I'd serve you pumpkin chicken curry on a cold night if I could...

Glory to God look at all the stars!

I took that picture last night...just on my phone. Indeed in such a huge universe...what is man that God is mindful of us? We are nothing. Yet earth is a special place created just right for many things to live on.

Let me tell you how you might be able to take such a picture too if you want:-) Of course depends if you live in a city or town or not, too. It's quite a way from any town of any size here.

But if your phone has a 'pro' area for adjusting camera settings you want to set the ISO to as high as it will go (mine was 3200). And also the photo time exposure or whatever it's called for...well I don't know, this one I set for 32 seconds which was the most my phone could do. And you also want to set the timer for the actual start of the picture being taken to allow you some time to set the phone down on it's front before the picture starts. There's no way you could hold it and do it!

And of course all phones are different but mine's nothing real special. I buy my phones second hand every so often. You can buy a better one that way for cheaper but it just can't be too old as things won't work on it. (For example, my current phone is roughly $400 new but I bought it online, refurbished, for around $180 as it was just over two years old but works just fine and looked brand new.) But I sell my old ones online too as they still work well for most things (and the gospel goes with them!). That's one thing some people have the conviction that you shouldn't sell an old phone lest people use it for sinful things. Personally I am not so convicted as the world uses everything pretty much for sinful things and a phone is just a tool for good or bad. They use houses and cars for sinful things too and surely we can't avoid selling things in this life. Some things are almost completely for evil like a television and movies and such like which we never sell to others if we get rid of them when we're coming to the Lord. But each to his own as long as people don't impose their convictions on others. Anyway just sharing if that can help you if you want or need to be frugal in your phone buying. Of course you have to be careful buying online but there's usually reviews and things to check out.

And maybe that information on picture taking can help you enjoy God's beautiful creation a little more to give Him glory! Even if our human eye cannot see all the stars doesn't mean they're not there! Just like a microscope shows us small things that are there. That's so amazing too looking through one of them at things. Surely all are without excuse for there being a mighty Creator! He made things so unbelievably small and so unbelievably large too! Surely He is an almighty God!

He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
Psalm 147:4
Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.
Psalm 148:3

Well that's what I have over the past several days. I had a cleaning job today too so that's an extra blessing. And always online ministry work goes on. Seems a little busier in that lately but I'm thankful for a variety of good works to do. And the usual Titus 2 works and animal works too. We just keep going in all the Lord has in front of us. It's quite a different world we are living in to the times of the Bible. Much discerning to be done and just do our best through it all trusting in the Lord by faith.

Press on sisters! Keep striving in whatever calling the Lord has for you! Lord willing I will be back here tomorrow to edify you somehow. The Lord be magnified!

Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
Ephesians 6:23-24

Love to you sisters in Christ,
