Greetings sisters!
How are you this day? What a joyous thing to be serving the Lord and striving on in Him!
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2 Corinthians 7:1
What a great scripture with much to ponder on. Perfecting holiness in the fear of God...yes that's what we sisters are striving for. And with the help of His Word and Spirit we can overcome anything that is unholy.
I know that in Titus 2 it talks about the women being taught to be good. And we can easily see in the rest of the NT (and in fact the entire Bible) about our works being good (and of course God tells us in His Word what is good and not what people may call good as today they may call evil good). We know our works would be any of our actions. It might be the daily duties we do as well. But all of these are supposed to be good if we are Christ's because God Himself is holy and righteous and good. And likewise that means we hate bad works...those ones that the Word tells us are sinful and wicked.
Some examples we all know would be pride, usurping authority, dressing against scripture, being unkind and unloving, using idle words, rewarding evil for evil, being impatient, lazy, unthankful, or discontent and all such things of which there are many.
But we sisters daughters of the most High God want to be good and do good. We have been commanded to be.
We want to be humble instead of proud
Submissive instead of in authority over men
Dressing biblical instead of how we want or with the culture
Kind instead of mean
Loving instead of unloving
Use meaningful edifying words instead of empty or bad ones
Reward others with good instead of evil
Patient and longsuffering instead of impatient
Thankful and content instead of discontented and unthankful
And so much more!
So we can clearly see all the good things God commands of us His children if we look in His Word. Of course there's many more than I mentioned but in God's strength we can be striving in all good things which really is the fruit of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Galatians 5:22-24
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Ephesians 1:4

(thank you sister saint for the picture!) I like thinking about that...walking in newness of life! That's what we sisters are doing because of Christ who gives us life from the dead!
