Speech, Silence, and a Sound Mind...

Good day holy sisters of the Lord!

I pray that today you are prepared, walking after God's ways...

"And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"
Philippians 3:9

Let us walk in a strong faith watching for our Lord ready at all times. He is coming!

This subject came to me and so I thought I'd share some verses for us sisters to ponder. It's good to keep all these things fresh in our minds. Our words (spoken or written) are important and they show what is in our hearts.

"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh."
Luke 6:45

May these scriptures edify and bless you and as they do for me help to recheck whether we need to change anything...or to see if we are getting off track in any way...which we certainly don't want to do.

And I include more "silence" in my blog post by including more gaps and not running it all on:-). May it help you to ponder God's Word and truth.

"The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous madness. A fool also is full of words: a man cannot tell what shall be; and what shall be after him, who can tell him?"
Ecclesiastes 10:12-14

Let us look to our perfect Example - Jesus Christ.

"And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?"
Luke 4:21-22

"He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth."
Isaiah 53:7

"But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"
Mark 14:61

And not be like these women...

"And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not."
1 Timothy 5:13

But like this...

"She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness."
Proverbs 31:26

"Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;"
1 Peter 3:1

And let us heed the Word...

"Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,"
1 Peter 2:1

"But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

Matthew 12:36-37

"Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile."
Psalm 34:13

And we shall either hear these precious words...

"Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand,

Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:"

Matthew 25:34

Or the most tragic ones in the universe...

"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand,

Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:"

Matthew 25:41

Are you prepared to meet God and face the judgement? Are you living in obedience to all His commands today or are you rebelling? Do you know the gospel or have you been deceived?

Words are powerful; with them God created everything!

He said...and it was so!

May our words as godly women all be this...

"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:29-32

May all our words be good and edifying. May they build up and not tear down, encourage and not discourage (except to discourage others from sin). May we speak the truth in love, and may all our words pass the test of all things good (Philippians 4:8).

We know silence is often what a woman is to have too.

She is to learn in silence from the men.

She is to have a meek and quiet spirit as well.

As godly women we are to be soberminded and of a sound mind. Our words will relate to that. They will show what is in our hearts.

I like this...

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
2 Timothy 1:7

"Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid."
Luke 8:35

The man had been restored to his right mind. I like that that verse makes a point of mentioning he was now clothed. It goes along with being sane. (Yet in today's culture we see people unclothing themselves...goes along with insanity I guess.) May we women be sober and in control of our actions and words.

And I like how Paul put it here...

"And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad. But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.
Acts 26:24-25

"He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction."
Proverbs 13:3

Let us women be careful with our words. Let us not say what should be left unsaid. Let us kill our flesh if we want to say things and we know we shouldn't...and in such a case check our hearts. Let us think of Christ who when He was reviled reviled not again. He opened not His mouth when extremely falsely accused. He asked the Father to forgive them because they knew not what they were doing.

Let only good and true come from our hearts into our words and writings. May they be all the things that God wants us women to be.

And let us endure patiently, daily until the end.

I like this verse.

Love in Christ,

...from a daughter of God
