Humbleness of Mind

Greetings holy women of God!

Are you strong in the Lord today?

I was pondering this verse the other night....

"Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
2 Peter 3:17

Falling from our steadfastness. How can that be?

"We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not."
1 John 5:18

Let us watch and beware. Keep on guard.

I was pondering this one too...

"Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil."
1 Timothy 3:6

So much about falling...

But I was wanting to encourage us women to think on the quality of humbleness which we are to have, which is the opposite of pride.

I wrote a post on water yesterday and then I thought of this...about being wet with the dew of heaven...and then I thought what a perfect example for what I was posting today...how the proud can be humbled...like this king was.

"And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.

And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase."

Daniel 4:32-37

Let us all examine ourselves at all times to root out any thing that is not becoming of the humble mind we are to have.

May all these scriptures bless you.

"These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren."

Proverbs 6:16-19

"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;"
Colossians 3:12

"Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 18:4

"But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up."
James 4:6,10

"He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree."
Luke 1:51-52

For us godly women it is to be an important part of our character and obedience to the Lord.

"But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price."
1 Peter 3:4

And it's fitting with our submission and keeper at home type of life. And it is closely related to serving others.

And our Lord Creator of the universe showed us an example of what it means to serve...and He came to serve.

"So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them."
John 13:12-17

"Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass."
Zechariah 9:9

"For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."
Mark 10:45

And we see an example in Abigail in the Old Testament...

"And she arose, and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let thine handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord."
1 Samuel 25:41

Good works of humbly serving others is to be a good indicator of a godly woman, and in this case was in order to accept a widow for receiving benefits.

"Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work."
1 Timothy 5:10

"Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others."
Philippians 2:3-4

I saw this flower on my walk today. It reminded me of what I was writing here. All the rest of the flowers are hight on the bush...but this one was low even though it's attached to the main bush. Reminds me of the lowly:-).

Well sisters, I hope that edified and blessed you as we ponder the subject for us as godly woman striving to be perfect and well pleasing to our Lord.

Let us follow in our Master's footsteps...

"But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."
Philippians 2:7-8
