Seek Things Above

I hope you are all going well in the Lord today.

This is just a quick reminder and encouragement
 for all of us godly women to be focused on God and eternity

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."
Colossians 3:1-17

I can't add to that...my words are nothing, but how wonderful of our God to tell us how to live in holiness and obedience to Him. We are blessed to have the written Word of God! And for us women to have been given commands, although we are all one in Christ, we have our different roles and God told us what they are to be. That is great that we can be so guided! And with the help of the Spirit we can understand His truth and have the power to overcome.

God knows our hearts and what is in the depths of them. He truly knows if we really have surrendered our life or if we are holding onto parts that we want to.

"But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul."
Deuteronomy 4:29

What a great and eternal God we serve!

"Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.

Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph."
Amos 5:14-15

Well sisters, that is my encouragement and love for you today. I know sometimes pressing needs are upon us and we don't have so much time to study the Word and think upon Him. And I mean real needs (like looking after young children etc) though there will always be time, because I know in the past other things that were not important were taking up my time. Now I have put away all things that are worthless and now I truly have more time for the things of God which I want to do. All those worthless and even sinful things fade away and become loathsome when you are filled with the things of God. And there are many different things that could be in your life which is choking out the Word whether it is spending too much time online in things that are really useless, politics, music, sports, news, entertainment or whatever it could be. In this case this is true.

"And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful."
Mark 4:18-19

Certainly in the beginning of Christ's body they were filled with being about the Lord and His people. It truly is sad how much has been lost today and it is all about the world. For us striving to be holy, it is about having a heavenly mindset versus an earthly one; setting our affections above. There are many things that are all around us godly women that we are separated from. This gives us more time in the service of the Lord. And when we do go about our work that needs to be done we do it in a way that is God honouring.

Peace in Christ,

...a daughter of God
