Hello again sisters!
I am back on another day God granted in His mercy and longsuffering. Hopefully you're following hard after the Lord and keeping your heart with all diligence wherever He has called you. We must take our faith seriously.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
1 Peter 5:8-9
I was just thinking how it's that time of year too that you need to be ready to give an answer as to why you don't observe Christmas. No we don't always get the chance to explain, other than to say you don't do it but you never know. In short, these are a few reasons I have in no particular order.
*Its dark origins.
*God didn't tell us to do it.
*The date is not Christ's birthdate and the Word does not promote celebrating birthdays as the world does anyway.
*God's ways are truth and there's a lot of lies associated with this day.
*The focus in the Word is on Christ's death and resurrection.
*We do not participate in the pagan and ungodly ways of the world.
*It is materialistic, and often involves gluttony and drunkenness.
Those are some reasons that came to mind though I am sure there's more. Of course the world does what it does and we do not judge them, but those who believe need to test things and know God is holy and of the truth. We must fear Him. Oh yes indeed every day we should be filled with joy that He came! I do not demean the wonderful act of love God showed the world in sending us His best. This deserves 365 days of remembrance and thankfulness and not just one. People do seem to think that if you don't celebrate Christmas you don't celebrate Jesus being born but it is not true. But we live to please God and not man. We repent of ways that do not please Him.
It does remind me too, how God will not be mocked. People say they are celebrating Jesus but they don't care about Him the rest of the year nor on that day for that matter. They don't love Him. They don't obey Him. This scripture comes to mind and we don't want to do that.
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devil's. Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
We know paganism is of the devil and not of God. We know idolatry does not please Him in any way.
So let us sisters make sure we live pleasing to God no matter what and continue to walk humbly before the Lord and see if there's anything else we do that doesn't please Him. Yes this subject is important but there are many other areas to make sure we are obedient in like doing good to those who do evil, not being a false accuser, not hypocritical, being patient and self controlled, letting people steal our things etc, and many other things. In the hardest things, we must obey Him not just the easy things. May He help us!
Hold fast sisters. Love and mercy to you in His name.
