Greetings in the Lord, sisters!
It's a blessing to be able to share some edifying with you again today! I hope you're doing well and are steadfast in the faith! I was reading through the Proverbs 31 woman again and it's encouraging! It's a blessing to have duties to occupy in and we know the type of work women did in the Word, and also what is commanded, and it's interesting to read about and we know it pleases the Lord who is our Maker! And we are His daughters and chaste virgins espoused to Christ.
We see in the Word how women are to look after their households too, particularly women that are married with children. And that is a really big job in itself!
She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Proverbs 31:21,27
I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.1 Timothy 5:14
To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.Titus 2:5
I thought I'd read Proverbs 31 for us here too since I'm talking about it:)
And at the beginning of the chapter it was saying how it was instruction that the author's mother had taught him so that's interesting. We know mothers have a big part in raising children in the Lord.
My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:Proverbs 1:8
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.Ephesians 6:1
I heard this next scripture the other day and indeed our Saviour is also a good example for children to be subject to their parents.
And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?
And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
Luke 2:46-51
There's so much in the Word for all people isn't there! God is good to have given it to us. Let us seek out what is for us and joyfully serve Him in it for His glory.
So may we all press on in whatever duties the Lord has for us and do them diligently and the best we can. We are limited beings but with God nothing is impossible!
