Today's Edification (5 August 2024)

Greetings sisters!

I'm dropping in again to edify you because I can! I hope you're holding fast wherever you are.

We indeed serve a great and powerful God! And yet He deals with His saints in love and care and gentleness. It's good to ponder who this God is we serve!

I'm sharing some scriptures with a variety of accounts of all He is and has done! Let them fill us with awe and reverence and godly fear! Let us behold the goodness and severity of God and be truly wise!

And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.

Exodus 19:16-21

But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
Matthew 9:22

And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Revelation 6:15-17

Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
John 5:14

Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

Acts 5:9-11

He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
Isaiah 40:11

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13

And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.

So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beer–sheba seventy thousand men.

And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.

2 Samuel 24:14-16

Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.

1 Kings 18:37-39

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Revelation 1:17-18

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

Isaiah 6:3-5

For our God is a consuming fire.
Hebrews 12:29

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
1 John 4:8

I'm thankful to have been told who our God is and we want to keep growing in our knowledge of Him don't we sisters! We do not want to have a lopsided view of Him. But we try our best with our limited minds to grasp something so infinite as God is!

(My phone was acting up and randomly inserting all sorts of things including in the scriptures....on it's own accord. So I'm sorry if I missed any but I tried to catch them all and fix them. Just patience to practice. I just don't want the Word to read wrong. If you don't believe it can do that on its own you can see what it was doing here...

Hmm...not good, crazy in fact, anyway I think it was something to do with a spell checker which I don't even use so I turned it off anyway and it seems to be better. Kind of an odd feeling when you're not in control of what you're trying to do. Who knows where the future of technology will go. But one day at a time and let us use it for good and for His kingdom!)

I had travels to the children's again today. So I'll be thus occupied in the usual works as the days go by Lord willing. I got to listen to scriptures again and was pondering on the depths of what we are to be in the Lord in terms of taking wrong. It's just so completely opposite to the world's way of thinking of having to get back or even or at least vent your madness at them.

Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?
1 Corinthians 6:7

Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

1 Peter 2:18-23

There is so much depth in there to ponder which can be overlooked. It's also interesting that there's no commands for the slaves to fight for their rights or try to run away but rather take wrong...for doing good...patiently to be pleasing to God. It's just a different mindset to our cultures...a biblical and God glorifying one!

And again Christ is our perfect example and He sure got a whole lot of things dumped on Him that He didn't do! Did He retaliate? Did He call on the Father for the twelve legions of angels? No He quietly suffered for you and me and the sins of the whole world. Truly it was the just for the unjust. May we follow the steps of our Saviour in this area too!

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
1 Peter 3:18

It's just an area of great depth and I'm sure we all can keep growing in. God's ways are good.

Ties into the scriptures about the tongue as well.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
James 1:26

A sister shared a scripture passage that included this verse which stood out to me...

For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Romans 5:19

Just pondering on the obedience of Christ. Truly obedience to the Father matters! We would not have a Saviour otherwise if He disobeyed. We know He had to struggle in the flesh but of course surrendered to the Father's will and through His obedience we can be made righteous! I'm thankful for His obedience and all He fulfilled!

And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
John 8:29
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
Hebrews 5:8

Let us keep following after Him sisters! He will not fail or forsake us or lead us astray! We can count on that as it is impossible for God to lie. But let us stay close to Him in the truth. Strive on today sisters!

Love in Christ,

Chayil
