Today's Edification (21 May 2024)

Hello to my sisters who love the Lord!

I hope all is well in your lives and you're following hard after Him!

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:9-11

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
1 Corinthians 12:3

Pondering the depths of what it means for Jesus to be 'Lord' of someone's life, mine included. Simply put it means we obey Him in everything right sisters. He's our master.

We know we aren't to use empty words. To call Him 'Lord' and not obey Him would be that. But we know many will be sent away even if they called Him their Lord.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matthew 7:21-23

They did many great things in His name also...but they failed to do His will. It's all very sobering to know many will be sent away, who had hoped to enter, on that day. I don't want that for anyone, myself included. Press on sisters, seeking out His will in His Word and obeying it best you can and I will do that here too.

We know Jesus is the good news to the world and we can sum up our response to that news as obeying Him. He told us to believe in Him, to repent, and that we must be born from above. He told us to endure to the end to be saved, to be baptized, and many other things by which we live. No matter how you 'package' the gospel to present it to others, it all comes back to Him and following and obeying His every Word. We're blessed to have His written Word but also will be held more accountable to it. We need to make sure though that we aren't following another 'jesus'.

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
2 Corinthians 11:3-4

Let us hold fast to His written Word and not the words or works or deceptions of man and satan.

I know we are to make judgements in the body but I was pondering for those who judge harshly...they will be judged harshly themselves and so it's so very important to get it right lest we get it wrong and suffer severely for it. Let's all be humble and meek in all our dealings with others knowing we're nothing but all fallen fallible creatures. We need much pondering of our own lives and actions before we judge others. It also reminds me how I need to be careful in what I write here too. It might just be easier to say or write nothing then you can't get it wrong...but we just have to walk by faith doing our very best and God knows our hearts and isn't out to get us. Obviously we're judging and testing and correcting everything we say but surely compared to God, errors may slip through. Why there's a huge difference between man's words and God's and how we need to be reading His Word so much.

Getting a big bag of chopped onions into the freezer...

Satisfying feeling of saving things from potential waste:-) I thought the inside of that onion looked pretty too. I put them inside two layers of snap lock bags so hopefully they don't smell up the freezer too badly.

I'd serve you some pumpkin pancakes...

Just lots of pumpkin things being tried...but always plain and simple pumpkin soup uses the most!

I had various animal works to do.

And got some sewing done also. How's your good works going sisters? Hopefully your days are fruitful in good works!

But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
Luke 8:15

I like how that says bring forth fruit with patience. We know we have to keep bearing fruit until the end. It's not a one and done thing or a once a year thing like some fruit trees and plants etc. No, our 'trees' must have continual good fruit!

Here's how...

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:5-8

Let's abound in all those so we're not barren or unfruitful!

I came across this account and was pondering it...

But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Luke 10:29-37

Sometimes you can read things and not actually let them sink in or take out how to apply them to our own daily lives. Reminds me how Jesus' teachings are always consistent and how He said similar things here...

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Matthew 25:37-40

Let us 'see' any such needs around us or spiritually as well and obviously we're not held accountable if we don't often face such situations but we want to be ready.

Keep pressing on one day at a time sisters! The days do add up pretty quickly don't they. So we know this life is short and we don't know how long each one of us will live anyway. Let us keep preparing to meet our God, coming to Him through Christ who we're striving to obey.

For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Ephesians 2:18

🌷Love to you all in the Lord,🌷
