Today's Edification (26 January 2024)

Greetings godly sisters!

I hope you are still looking forward with your hand to the plough!

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Luke 9:62

We want to be 'fit' for the kingdom and worthy of it too.

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Luke 21:36

Was thinking about the women who were going to the sepulchre with the spices etc. I just read that last chapter in Luke yesterday. We know they had ministered unto Him in His travels and this was no doubt their last act of that serving. It can be hard to imagine all that took place surrounding the event of Christ's death...and the sorrow and the joy of it all as they learned He was risen! We look back on it with thankfulness through His written Word and the full mystery has been revealed in all Christ fulfilled and did.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

John 16:20

A sister shared on her post the scripture about trusting the Lord with 'all thine heart'. Here's a few more scriptures with that same phrase (or your for thine...same thing).

This day the LORD thy God hath commanded thee to do these statutes and judgments: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.

Deuteronomy 26:16

But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Joshua 22:5

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:13

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Deuteronomy 6:5

Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

Joel 2:12-13

We cannot be half-hearted or have a divided heart in our faith life. It has to be all or nothing.

And an audio with scriptures on 'fulfilled' from the New Testament...

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

John 6:63

The part about the flesh profits nothing was in my mind today. We know it is spiritual this life we live, and spirit and truth worship, and walking in the Spirit not the flesh etc. But we still have our earthly tabernacle and the wicked flesh part of us to wrestle with and bring into subjection by the Spirit.

But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Luke 16:25

If we think we should have 'good things' in this life...we need to remember our reward is in the life to come! We remember all He has done and the treasures in the heavens. Our inheritance is to come! We can beat our flesh into submission to embrace the trials as we know they work good in us like patience and endurance!

And we must remember that...ALL things work for good!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

The Lord blessed me with safe travels. It's always sobering to see an accident scene on the highway though. Life can always change in a second and it is a vapour. We know God is the giver and taker of life and we see His mercy on those He does allow to keep having life on this earth when they deserve to die for one sin (like we do too). We don't want to tempt God though and He gave us all a perfect example in Ananias and Sapphira in that. That is also His mercy to give us that example. It is wisdom to heed it.

I was thinking of this scripture...

Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:

But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.

Ecclesiastes 8:11-13

Was a beautiful day in His creation for travel...

And the Lord blessed me with a cleaning job on the way back too. Let us learn the depths of thankfulness and contentment and knowing we are not our own but servants to Him and to others.

I gave a gospel card to a rather serious man at the petrol station...but his face lit up with a smile when he began reading the gospel card:-) That's always nice when people don't give you dirty looks about it. Reminds me of another time recently when I was waiting to be picked up outside a grocery store and two young women walked by and I offered them a gospel card. One gave a dirty look and the other on the farther side reached out behind and smiled and took one. That's how it is, some hate and some don't. But I also remember how much of a deceived culture we live in and people may think at first that we represent the corrupt churches when we don't. But if they are seeking, like I wrote about yesterday, they can see the truth!

Thank you sisters for the scripture picture gifts...

(His creation and scriptures are always good!)

Keep striving on sisters! Our redemption draws nearer each day! Let's glorify Him and be ready.

Love in Christ,
