Today's Edification (14 July 2024)

Greetings sisters!

I hope you're pressing on in the faith today...following hard after our Master and good Shepherd! He is the only way.

Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:2-5

Let us sisters rely on the Lord for all we need. He is able to help us in all things for He is mighty! We need much faith in this world to overcome much.

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:4

We can think of all those gone before us who had much faith. They trusted in God that He was able.

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
2 Timothy 1:12

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
Titus 1:2

There's so many and various things in life that we will never understand nor have answers for. That just keeps us humble knowing God is God and knows all things and He is in ultimate control although He allows satan power for a time too. But even he will be put down one day! And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day! This scripture sums up what we should be doing and our purpose here.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

May we not lose our focus on doing so.

This is the hope for the faithful one day...

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Revelation 21:3-5

That is a precious promise. Let us labour to be found worthy to partake of that lest the opposite be true as Jesus warned about the place of eternal destruction for those who obey not the gospel and do not know God. This life is very serious really and I ponder how especially in such an entertainment driven fleshly culture, satan is doing a great job to try to get people 'having a great time' when in reality this world is filled with sorrow and pain and hurt and loss and grief and suffering. And then you have the lies that God loves everyone no matter what and that doesn't help either as then no one really fears Him which is where true wisdom starts. So it's a deadly mix of many things that distract most everyone in the flesh and it doesn't keep the truth and reality of sin and death and eternity and being prepared for it in the forefront of their minds.

Some wisdom to help set our mind straight on things in this world...

A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.

It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.

Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.

The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.

Ecclesiastes 7:1-5

Jesus became one of us and went through the trials of this life...

When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,

And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.

Jesus wept.

Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!

John 11:33-36

But He Himself was here on this earth among us to taste death for every man.

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Hebrews 2:9

He knew what it's like not to want to go though sufferings too...

Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Matthew 26:38-39

Because He obeyed His Father and didn't give up, we don't have to die eternally!

Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
Luke 20:36

Let us make sure we are eligible for this precious promise as we do know the whole world will not be saved. The Word speaks about believing, repenting, being born from above, obedience and righteousness and holiness and loving God and enduring and other things that are essential for one to find eternal life. My plea is that if God isn't first in your life and the truth of what is essential for salvation isn't at work in you daily...please seriously consider your eternity. Be willing to lose your reputation here, to forsake sins, and weights that beset you, so God is glorified and you can be with Him in a better place for all eternity.

God is no doubt being very merciful and longsuffering with this world as He wants none to perish. But He will come in judgement soon. May we all be ready and watching and prepared for our own death. And let us ponder that none of us deserve to live and have all the blessings we do, so we see His mercy in that too. And we get a choice to serve Him or not. And people get to see the consequences of reaping what they sow as well, meaning all over the world God is being pushed out of people's lives and much suffering is being brought upon themselves as well (by ungodly unhealthy habits for one example). God's ways are good and when they are not followed all sorts of problems enter. Of course we saints will have sufferings as well as anyone and as well as those for our faith in Christ. We are blessed in that we know what's going on in this world from the beginning to the end.

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Genesis 2:17
For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
1 Corinthians 15:25-26

I look forward to that day when death will be destroyed! Come soon, Lord Jesus!

I hope my sisters are all doing well in the Lord most of all. Keep pressing on physically if there's trials there. This life is short really and God is again merciful that we don't have to live almost a thousand years, like they used to, in this troubled world.

We may be in that strait between two choices...

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

Philippians 1:21-24

But His will be done and for His saints...those who love and obey Him...all things work for good! We may think we know what is best and cling hard to it but He sees everything that we don't too. And He doesn't give us more than we can bear either. Trials refine and help His saints like they did for Job. And David also spoke of that in the Psalms. Let us press on forwards...as there isn't anywhere else to go!

Hold fast my sisters and keep fighting that good fight of faith! Lay hold on eternal life!
