Today's Encouragement (30 November 2023)

Greetings beloved sisters!

I hope you're striving on in the truth!

For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;

3 John 1:3-5

Truth...so important that we have it and seek for all the truth in His Word and with the help of the Holy Spirit. So I share a few more scriptures on truth from the many that are in the Word.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:6

Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

1 Timothy 2:4

Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

1 Corinthians 13:6

This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

1 John 5:6

Today I wanted to read Ezekiel 33...

Much in there to ponder about repentance and sin. And also how we too are a type of watchman to warn those we can about God's coming judgement lest they repent and the hope to escape that through the gospel

I was pondering about how your witness is a combination of all things about you. It is the way you react to situations, the way you look, the way you speak, the way you spend your time...and everything of course. We know our faith in Christ is all day, every day as we are always His and on duty! Something to take seriously each day and at all times.

I had a thought to do an audio on women in the New Testiment. Not exhaustive by any means but just some examples and encouragement from what we read about them and the commands for us. Hope that blesses you!

And I know some days I have more to share here and some less but instead of saving things for tomorrow I might as well share them right away as I don't know I'll even get tomorrow:-) That's a good thing to remember, to make the most of each day, redeeming the time. I'm sure the Lord will give me something to share tomorrow for my post.

I saw the starry sky last night for the first time in a long while. Now that's one thing to really make you feel small and think about the greatness of this God we serve. Awe...is the word to describe it.

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Psalms 8:3-4

Not my picture but it's so amazing. Glory to God!

And in real life they're twinkling too. Our Creator is amazing!

Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

Psalms 33:8

Skirts ready to ship...

Satisfying and I love having good works to occupy in.

And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
Isaiah 58:11

For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
Isaiah 61:11

And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1 Timothy 6:8

(Thank you sister for the picture:-)

The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

Psalms 37:30-31

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

Jude 1:24

We have hope in Him to press on steadfastly without falling! He is a God of hope and our Rock!

Just sharing all sorts of scriptures that came to mind or I found:-) Hope they edify you!

He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Isaiah 25:8-9

Hold fast sister soldiers!

Today's Encouragement (29 November 2023)

Greetings godly sisters!

More time the Lord gave to us to serve Him and endure in our faith race! I hope that's what you're all doing!

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:1-2

I would share a treat snack blessing with my sisters...

To help keep us going in good works!

I was pondering these scripture...

She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

John 8:11

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:1

I'm thankful for the hope in Christ if we meet the conditions...sin no more and walk not after the flesh (along with the rest of the gospel). Praise God!

Next scripture reading here...

My day has been a busy and fruitful one. I'm sure my sisters are working hard too!

Got the skirts all finished! Praise God! Thankful to have the health to do all we do.

And yes let's be real about what the floor looks like after sewing so many...

But satisfying to be done and cleaned up again!

I was pondering on order. God is a God of order and not confusion or chaos.

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints...Let all things be done decently and in order.

1 Corinthians 14:33,40

Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

2 Thessalonians 3:6

We are to withdraw from those who are disorderly and not after God's ways. Let us be subject to God's Word and ways sisters! Then we will be in order.

Saw some of God's creatures...

Amazing how He made those geckoes to stick to surfaces.

Cute little thing...

So much variety He made!

Herbs in the planter which will fill out nicely hopefully...

And the spares planted out in the garden...

They will go good with the tomato blessings coming along...

Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

James 5:7

So many beautiful creations He made!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:1-3
We know who is behind it all! A great God who we get to serve!

A sister shared this scripture (thank you:-) which I had just been reading and pondering and was going to share here.

A lot in there to put into practice in our lives. We indeed have a very high calling and everywhere we are is our 'mission field' as they say. Goes along with the scripture about being ready to give an answer. We want to be at all times especially when asked but also doing our part to share the gospel to the lost and be salt and light for Him by our actions and words.

Keep striving on the narrow road sister soldiers! Lord willing I will share more tomorrow.

Love in Christ,

Sister Chayil

Today's Encouragement (28 November 2023)

Greetings dear sisters!

I'm back sharing again as the Lord has allowed! This life is one we have to patiently endure in whatever comes...easier times or harder ones. But the Lord is worthy and is our Helper!

For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

Isaiah 50:7

Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

Psalms 63:7-8

I love those scriptures. I'm sure my sisters do too!

I've had a fruitful day in the Lord. And much quiet time to ponder many spiritual things. I got a lot of sewing done and more to go tomorrow if I get the day.

One skirt completely finished at least...

And I finally got my head covering tutorial post up here

Quick trip to the garden to get some veggies for the meal...

And I made buckwheat soup that you can find the recipe of here

Today I made an audio talking about the gospel and how we can find eternal life. This is what we live in every day and not something you do or accept once. No, if we are not living the gospel today, we are lost lest we repent.

I was also thinking about how in the body everyone will be different and how we want to be humble about it all as God is in control...

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

Romans 12:3-6

Never means any allowance for living in sin of course but in other ways we will be different. God made us and owns us and we are just clay in His hands and tools for His use. Let us surrender our wills so He can use us.

But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

 1 Corinthians 12:18

We know the Lord adds to His body. We can plant seeds and water but He gives the increase. Therefore glory to His name and not to us! We are just doing our reasonable service anytime we share the gospel or help someone in truth.

Let us sisters seek to edify one another the best we can...

Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

1 Corinthians 14:12

And strive in all obedience to the Lord and grow up in Him greatly! He wants willing and surrendered hearts. We have a covenant with Him as we know we are not in a relationship with Jesus but in the New Covenant. We have our side of it to keep.

I was reading this too...

Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

Acts 5:9

We can see that sin is tempting God and could lead to immediate judgement. We don't want that do we sisters. I'm thankful for His mercy on us all when we were dead in our sins and also whenever we do stumble into sin now. Let us fear when we do and repent immediately. We know from Hebrews 10:26 that wilful sin is not atoned for.

I'm thankful for the truth the Lord has allowed me to see. I don't want to take this lightly at all. We know Jesus' parables of what happened to slothful servants. We have many actions to do and pressing on to do in this faith walk.

I am glad the Lord opened my eyes to the wickedness of church denominations in our day. I have had some direct experience with Lutheranism, Baptist, Presbyterian, and Brethren and house churches. All of those are false religions and I am so glad to be free from those who will be judged and destroyed by the Lord for their errors.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

2 Corinthians 6:17-7:1

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Revelation 18:4

Here's the next scripture reading to edify...

God blessed the land with rain again here.

A great physical blessing which God sends on the righteous and the wicked.

(Thank you for that scripture sister:-) Awesome creations He made!

Keep striving sisters! Let us all aim to overcome no matter what! Christ is worthy and is our hope and strength!

How to Headcover

Greetings godly sisters!

Today I am going to share what you can do to fulfill the Lord's command to cover your head and hair.

The way I prefer is a large square of lightweight fabric folded in half diagonally and then tied at the neck.

Another way is a pre-tied slip on one made of knit fabric (to provide some stretch to get it on easier)....

And just in case it can help someone, a clip like this really helps hold your hair up in a bun all day.

So I want to show you how you can sew these coverings yourself if you have opportunity. (If not, I can sew them for you or find some on my store here.)

Here is the first and easiest way. A simple square of lightweight fabric. I use 100% cotton voile or lawn fabric.

Make sure you cut a really straight and square edge as your starting point to measure the rest from. I usually make mine around 75cm (30 inches) square. You can go larger, but a little smaller if your fabric is narrower could work for women with not a lot of hair or for girls. (Add a little for hem allowance when cutting.)

When cut you can briefly fold it into a triangle to see if it's a reasonably good square and it should line up.

Then sew a very narrow hem around all the edges of the square. I use an overlocker to do a rolled hem but if you don't have one you can figure out how to use a sewing machine stitch or just do a usual but very narrow double folded hem.

Next, here is how to sew the slip on headcovering.

I just pulled apart a ready made one I already had. A sister showed me how to sew this type originally...so thank you sister! It can be a bit tricky but it doesn't have to turn out perfect...just functional:-) Use a lightweight knit fabric.

(I added on extra to the headcovering I had though.)

Here are the measurements I used...

Finish the sides of the triangle. Or you can even skip this step if you like, as knit fabrics don't usually fray. (This will save you a lot of trouble if you skip this actually:-) It may fray a little as it is cut on an angle but not much.

Then hem the long edge...

(It's possible that step can be skipped too though I haven't tried it.) Use a long and narrow zig zag stitch. This keeps some stretch in it so the thread won't break. You may need to stabilise the hem with fusible tape or thin paper if it's puckering up too much as you sew.

Now fold the triangle in half and measure about 25cms (9.5") along the top edge. Mark this on both sides of the fabric. This will give you the right starting point for the next step.

Then unfold and draw a shape starting from the points you drew that looks roughly like this...
As you can see, mine is not the best there:-)

You can make it 5cms (2") from the edge along the straight sides...

And 12 cms (5") up from the bottom point of the triangle...

Just trying to give you some reference points to work with.

This is to mark a line where you will add a gathering stitch next...
Sew with your machine on it's longest stitch length. Do not backstitch. And then pull on one thread to gather the fabric up until it cannot gather any more. Just be careful not to break the thread, so be gentle.

Then pull on either side of the stitch line to straighten it all. (Otherwise you will be sewing bunches of the wrong fabric when you sew the elastic in.)

I use about 12cm (5") of 5mm (1/4") thin elastic...

Pin it in place across the stitch line on the inside of the covering...

You will probably need to stretch it a little as you go to make it reach the other side. Set your machine on a narrow zigzag stitch (test on scrap fabric beforehand) and sew slowly all the way across. You may have to pull it through gently as there's a lot of bulk to sew over.

So now you're done! I hope it turned out well for you...

And most of all I hope that you're striving to be a godly woman in all ways as the Lord has changed your heart by the gospel. See that here. Let me know if I can help or encourage you!

Love in Christ,

Sister Chayil
