Today's Edification (11 April 2024)

Greetings sisters in the Lord!

I trust you're overcoming and rising up in the Lord each day! I am here, and we can be very thankful to the Lord for so many things! Mostly spiritual things to be thankful for but also all the physical blessings as well! We are truly rich aren't we!

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
2 Corinthians 8:9

As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
2 Corinthians 6:10

Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
James 2:5

I was pondering the phrase 'in the Lord'.

And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
Revelation 14:13

The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 7:39

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Ephesians 6:1

That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.
Romans 16:2

For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.
1 Corinthians 7:22

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58

Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:
Philippians 2:29

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
Colossians 3:18

Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.
Philemon 1:20

We sure want to always be doing things 'in the Lord' and abiding in Him and everything we do is because of Him and His Word!

Some of this scripture has been in my mind too...

But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Matthew 5:22

Serious matters in how we treat each other in the Lord.

We don't want to be like the wicked servant who after his lord had forgiven him much he went out and was mean to his fellowservant who had wronged him in a little. Ponder the Lord's great forgiveness to us and let us have abundant forgiveness to those who wrong us...to those who repent and confess their faults to us who we can receive warmly, and to those who also do not. God's ways are so high and not of the flesh.

I read some scriptures on compassion...

I'm first of all so thankful for the Lord's compassion...otherwise I wouldn't be here and neither would you! Also thankful for any saints I know that show compassion to each other also, which I strive to have as well.

Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
1 Peter 3:8

Meaning of that usage of compassion here...

We might also perhaps call it feeling bad for someone...seeing what they're going through and feeling sympathetic as if you were in the same situation yourself. Reminds me of this scripture...

Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.
Hebrews 13:3

This is a good thing to have and especially to fellow saints.

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Galatians 6:10

Paul was often thanking God for faithful saints...

I am thankful for those who love the pure Word of God and who humbly strive on knowing we all need Him and we all have not attained or are already perfect.

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:12

We just must keep pressing on! Press on sisters! We are fellowsisters, all 'in the same boat' as they say in needing to strive on, overcome, and remain in the faith and put down the flesh daily and walk in the Spirit and confess our faults one to another and have mercy and compassion and humility to one another. I do not know of a single person (except Jesus) that never fails or never sins or is perfect. We'd have to leave this world and get away from ourselves even if we wanted to only be with 'perfect' people. No, we can help one another and should...those who are in the Lord and love Him and His ways. My sisters hate all false ways and want to walk in all the truth of the Word and are striving to do so as am I. How pure is His Word amen sisters?!

I love this about His truth!

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Psalm 19:7-11

We love His Word don't we sisters?! And obviously I can only share some here at a time and we have to remember all that is written. Yes I am sharing some of the ways of God...His truth...and there's always much I can't share! For example, I may share on the goodness of God...but He also has a great severity and wrath too. We have to remember it all.

So I will remind us here to round it out...

Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Romans 11:20-22

Let us fear Him and obey Him to remain in His goodness lest we be cut off also. His goodness leads us to repentance. There is hope in Him!

But this day is coming too...

Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
Isaiah 13:9

Let us be found of Him in peace on that day and not be sinners. We know vengeance is the Lord's and we do not take that into our hands in any way...even in revengeful words let alone physically.

And for another example...we are to live at peace with all humans if possible...but Jesus also bought a sword to divide and said a man's foes may be of his own household. So we need to have the full reality of the truth in our hearts and lives always. But we sure don't want to go off in wrong paths taking one side and neglecting the other. We must live by all His Word right sisters? Try our best to anyway with His help. You see how dangerous doctrine people can develop when they only focus on some of the Word. Let that not be us.

This would be one biblical example of that...

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Matthew 23:23

Titus 2 sharing and good pure and true things and godly woman works. I know you all have many of them sisters and the Lord sees them all!

Trying to can some apples...

It's a bit funny cuz they have so much air in them (apples do) so they are trying to float out of the jars:-) I stewed them some first so maybe that helps a bit. But anyway just get them in and all sealed up is the point I guess!

I used to have a sister to ask how to do such things so I'm kinda feeling a bit lost or lonely in such things but just do my best I guess in it all and there's much more important things to talk about than Titus 2 things which we should talk about as well cuz that's our duty. But the internet is there and a good tool and resource if used carefully, but we don't have to make things more complex than they need to be and we appreciate just simple things don't we. We don't want to be cumbered about much serving. I think of Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus and hearing His Word.

And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
Luke 10:39-40

That's good to ponder. If Jesus were here would we rush around trying to get the house clean and the food cooked or would we sit at His feet and hear His words?! Well we probably should do some serving for sure but hearing His Word is most important. Hearers and then doers right sisters?!

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
James 1:22

Just sharing simple Titus 2 glimpses as maybe it's peaceful for you to see too.

We don't want to be like this do we! Good on the outside and rotten inside.

It would be like this...

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Matthew 23:25-28

What is the opposite that we sisters want and have?

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Matthew 5:8

That's one of my favourite scriptures. I know it's really hard to have favourites but it's my whole desire to have a pure heart before the Lord...and then those who do will get to actually see God. I can't imagine that.

Some more on a pure heart...

Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2 Timothy 2:22

Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
Psalm 24:3-4

Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
1 Timothy 1:5

Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1 Peter 1:22

I have lots of scriptures to share today sisters:-) Sometimes I have more to share than others but hopefully all my random thoughts and things are edifying somehow. I work on here all throughout my day most times. Nice to have a break from physical work and get on here and in the Word and sharing!

I think that's about half the pumpkin harvest in...

The Lord is good to provide! It's amazing the increase from a few seeds, let alone all the hundreds of seeds inside those 'fruit'! Let that be us, bearing much good fruit for His glory...
But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
Matthew 13:8, 23

It's a blessing to have physical things for us to better understand spiritual concepts.

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
John 15:8

There's so very much in His Word about likening humans to trees and fruit bearing. It would be a huge study!

Peaceful...

Got to sew a bit more and listen to the Word.

And I was updating my sewing shop a little...

And sometimes I wonder why it has to be so expensive to sew clothing. I mean I'd rather be able to sell clothes for a cheaper price than I can but fabric can be costly plus the platform taking a chunk, it's just how it has to be. I'm really thankful for the opportunity to provide biblical clothing and any profit is very minimal as it's not my main goal. Gospel cards get to go out too so that's invaluable as well! I know we can find biblical clothing at op shops/thrift stores but that can take a lot of time and then really isn't guaranteed at all. Well those stores are actually getting pretty expensive these days but either way we're blessed to have a lot of opportunities and not have to be short on clothing in our cultures at this time at least (but the time may come). Of course if you know how to sew your own...that's an extra benefit and you can look out for fabric sales (as I also do).

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
1 Timothy 2:9-10

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1 Peter 3:3

But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

1 Corinthians 11:5-7

Thought this looked pretty...

But it's just a simple leek doing what God made it to...growing in the sunshine! Every little creation is still amazing!

Thankful for big coat pockets to carry that many blessings up in!

It's a minute or two walk to the garden so not just near the house.

Saw this and though that's what a true great deal is!

Just something for us Proverbs 31 women to be interested in:-) We want to be faithful in little and good stewards of everything the Lord gives us.

And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Luke 12:42-43

Would serve up to all my sisters (and your families)...

Good blessings the Lord provides to eat and to do Titus 2 works in.

Well I think that's plenty from me today:-) My day has been fruitful and busy. I hope all yours are as well sisters no matter what you have to do...super busy, or in between, or even if you have a quieter life which allows more pondering and time in the Word.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psalm 1:1-2

I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.
Psalm 77:12

I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
Psalm 119:15

Let's keep pondering on and searching the Word and obeying it amen sisters. OK I had better go!

Strive on sister soldiers! Let's keep working hard as unto the Lord knowing our labour in the Lord is not in vain!

Love in Christ,

Sister Chayil
