Today's Edification (8 August 2024)

Hello sister saints!

Here is another day God gave us! Always a good day to serve the Lord isn't it?! It is a joy. I hope you're pressing on in the faith and all the duties that come with obeying Him! Surely He has made the way for us to follow after Him to eternal life! What a good, merciful, gracious, and loving God we serve!

And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 1:14

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:4-7

He is so good as we deserve nothing! Surely there is not a hope that we can work our way to heaven on our own and boast about it! We were dead in sins. He died while we were yet sinners. Praise God for life from the dead and now we walk in newness of life!

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Titus 1:16

I was thinking how it could be easy to be deceived by people and we have to be careful. We may see another woman perhaps online who says she loves Jesus so much! Oh great you might think she's going to be a very godly woman...because loving Him is obeying Him. But come to find out it is just an emotional lip service love which led to little action of obedience. Sadly it is so common. We may come across a woman who we can only see her words and they may look relatively good...but we can't see her life. There's just so much we cannot prove in these days especially if we don't know someone very well and see how they live life up close. It just is how it is. Lips and words can be not something to go by...but they surely also can be though! Oh yes we sisters want to have trustworthy and true words from a pure heart but His Word does tell us to not be deceived. It does talk about false lips. It just can be something we are aware of as a matter of wisdom. Not to be overly suspicious of people of course but we just have to be realists and we know there's so many false ways abounding.

They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
Psalm 12:2
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
Romans 16:18
With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
Proverbs 7:21
He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.
Proverbs 26:24-25

We do have to be careful of what people say sadly. And no it doesn't always mean they're being deliberately deceptive. People are deceived and there's so many popular lies around within the so called Christian faith and people believe them with all their heart. But we hope they are willing to be set free from them and repent and come to the truth! The truth makes us free and the opposite is bondage, blindness, and darkness. Not where we want to be. But it just teaches us a great contrast between the Lord's truth and man's fallible ways. We can fully trust in God's words! And yes we can believe the words of godly saints who love the truth. Anyone can fail but with the Spirit He will help us correct things if necessary!

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 10:32-33

Let us keep obeying Him no matter what others think of us. We cannot compromise to fit in or make it easier on our flesh and thus deny Him. We do not want to be denied before the Father.

Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Mark 8:38

We do not want Jesus to be ashamed of us either. May we keep obeying Him and His words of truth in a corrupt generation.

And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.

Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.

So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job.

And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Job 42:7-10

The book of Job is quite an interesting and different one and definitely encouraging! Job stood through great trials and trusted in God. I think how it doesn't mean you're good with God if you have a smooth life. Not by any means. Think of the world flourishing. Yes we know God does judge people on the spot and He takes people's lives. But we see the saints often going through many afflictions. I was just thinking how Job's friends thought he must have sinned and spoke that which was not true about him...falsely accusing.

And I also think how you can't just grab a verse from Job and think it's good words as it may be coming from someone who was not speaking that which was right and you have to go back and see who the speaker was! Surely there are man's words within God's Word for us.

I hope you keep pressing on in the faith sisters! I'm ending this with some encouragement for us to keep watching and being ready.

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Matthew 26:41

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Luke 21:36

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
1 Corinthians 16:13

Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
1 Thessalonians 5:6

Keep watching sisters!

Love in Christ,

Sister Chayil
