Today's Edification (24 July 2024)

Greetings my sisters!

God granted us life today and so we have the opportunity to keep striving on after our wonderful Saviour and Lord! I hope you're all pressing on stedfastly in the faith...wherever you are around the world!

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
Acts 17:24-25

I was pondering how true it is that whatever you focus on, takes up your thoughts and seems big in your life. If we focus on the Lord like we want to be then the things of this life aren't so big. It reminds me of serving two masters...it can't be done. If we feed our flesh and feed on the distractions of this world then that's what will fill our heart and mind. But if we lay aside such things as well of course any sins too then we have a pure undivided heart for the Lord which is what we want. And it's something we sisters just keep adjusting and correcting along the way as we go being self disciplined and remembering to redeem the time to the best of our ability and in the ways that our calling and situation allows. And if we remember that we're doing all the earthly duties unto the Lord and as He has commanded we do them then that helps us focus on Him too and it makes doing them more joyful! Why wouldn't we want to serve Him eagerly! We have so much hope in Him as well and His grace is sufficient for us!

We definitely don't want any part with idolatry. We know some common practices and traditions in our world today are related to it...including in disguise, and have their origins in it. I was just pondering on it and how it's crept into the culture and things people do without realizing. And the Word speaks of covetousness being related too. And we know it can be anything we put before the one true and living God who alone is to be worshipped.

Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
1 Corinthians 10:14

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Colossians 3:5-10

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Ephesians 5:3-11

Good scriptures, warnings, and truth and good ways to walk in and I'm thankful to have His Word!

We are 'misfits' with the culture and world around us but that's a good thing! Let us think eternally and not just about what's right in front of us in the physical. We get grafted into Christ and also get a whole new family when we are born of God! Isn't that wonderful?! And we do no see all we have today but it is our inheritance laid up for us when we can receive it, having endured faithfully to the end. We know the Spirit is a down-payment to us for what is to come. We want to be able to have the right to the rest of the promises the Lord has told us about! Let us fight hard to obtain.

Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22

Keep standing sisters! Keep showing a better way of holiness and fear and love after the Lord! Keep showing a life of faith as we are fully pursuaded of the Lord and the commands He gave us. Keep serving Him and others!

Love in Christ,

Sister Chayil
