Today's Edification (6 June 2024)

Greetings sisters!

I'm back! Another day God gave to serve and love Him in spirit and in truth. And out of that comes our godly women's works and duties. We know the brothers have different callings and the sisters have different callings. Some overlap and we know much of His Word and commands applies to all. But we do have to be careful that we don't confuse the two and take absolutely everything in scripture to be talking to us women. No, it's clearly not. But we sure know the greatest commandment is love - for God and then people. And everything fits into that really. Love desires no ill for anyone. And we need to think spiritually as well as physically. People need to follow Christ to glorify Him and to find eternal life. But we can't force anyone but we can share that blessed hope with anyone we can.

I'm thankful God told us what true love is...

Love is long suffering. Kind. Doesn't envy. Boasts not itself. Is not proud. Doesn't behave in an unbecoming way. Doesn't seek it's own. Isn't easily provoked. Doesn't think evil. Rejoices in the truth and not in sin. It bears, believes, hopes, and endures all things.

That is a great description of godly love! Each aspect we could study and meditate on for a long time and find other scriptures on the subject and examine how we're doing at them all. I truly want to be walking in all love. It's definitely something we want to focus on as it's the greatest.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
1 Corinthians 13:13

I was listening to scripture as I sewed today and I can imagine how horrible Peter would have felt here. I know I would have...especially when someone you loved (Jesus) was being tortured and killed and you didn't get to apologize or show your repentance to.

And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.

And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

Luke 22:60-62

That whole situation was a deep and great time of darkness not only for the disciples but for the whole world as Jesus died for our sins. But also a great act of love as Jesus worked to rescue us from our sins which would have lead to our death. Glory to God death could not hold Him and He rose victorious! Let us be like the one leper who was healed returned to give glory to God and serve Him with all that we are!

His blood is precious to us.

But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1 Peter 1:19

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 1:7

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Revelation 1:5

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Ephesians 2:13

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Colossians 1:20

We know life is in the blood and indeed He gave up His life, doing the will of the Father. But because of that we can have life ourselves!

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Romans 6:3-12

Such hope! Press on in that hope sisters...rejoicing!

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Romans 5:2
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
Romans 12:12

This account came to mind and it's a good one to learn from.

At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.

The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?

While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.

And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

Daniel 4:29-37

For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Luke 14:11

Let us remember our place before our great God. I love being humble and low and want to go lower and lower so He can use me more. Everything we should be, I know we grow in over time...in love, kindness, mercy, righteousness, goodness, wisdom, and everything really even if it's greater knowledge of God and His truth. Keep focusing on the Lord sisters and that will keep us in our rightful place.

Stand fast my dearly beloved holy sisters all around the world! God sees and knows and loves you. One day we shall be gathered home if we overcome having remained faithful to the end!

Love in Christ,

Sister Chayil
