Today's Edification (8 February 2024)


Greetings sisters!


I trust this finds you pressing on in the Lord through the Spirit, striving to obey the Word in all things. One day after another we keep going! It won't be long really until eternity...even if we live a long life. Let us be occupied in preparing to meet our God. This glorifies Him too which is most important! I sometimes tell myself, no matter what He chooses to do with us in the end...He is worthy to be glorified in our life, and we deserve death but He is good of course and has such precious promises for those who overcome! But let us not tempt Him or abuse His grace and mercy lest we be destroyed. Let us fear and revere Him. 

He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Psalm 111:9-10

Such an awesome packed full chapter of great teachings to be obeyed from our Master! We are blessed to have them and to know the Way! 

And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 

Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:4-6

 


So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

James 2:12-13

That part about being judged without mercy for those who show no mercy came to mind and I was pondering it. As Jesus said...blessed are the merciful. 




Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: 

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. 

Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

Isaiah 28:15-17 

I love that about our Saviour! And I read some more awesome scriptures on 'precious'. 



Praise God for those who are about the Word and the things of the Lord all day every day! Yep we have to do much physical things too but that is also unto the Lord because we are commanded to do them as well. 


I was thinking about how we don't live in willful sin but instead willful obedience! God is looking for those who seek Him. I was thinking of all the saints I know and how their testimonies all include being hungry for truth and seeking Him. That is why we cannot force anyone to want it. It won't work! Glory to God for working with His own and helping us! 


God's Word is clear about sin not entering the kingdom of heaven (read the rest of the verses for more context)... 

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:21


Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

1 Corinthians 6:9



We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

Romans 15:1-2

Whether it's physical or spiritual weaknesses we can all help each other. One sister's weakness may be another's strength and vice versa. But Christ's body all works together to help one another be strong! 

For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.

2 Corinthians 13:9


Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Ephesians 6:10

Let us be faithful to Him too, faithful with the Word, faithful with our abilities He gave, faithful to the saints, faithful to share the gospel how we can, faithful in our time, faithful with our money, and so much more. 

Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

1 Corinthians 4:2


Press on sisters, no matter what! We have counted the cost to follow Christ and let us keep walking in it. He is worthy!
