Today's Edification (31 December 2025)

Greetings sisters!

I hope this post finds you faithful in the Lord and doing well. I am here. By faith, we know our Lord and the precious promises to come. In Him we have so much and He is sufficient for us. Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift!

It is the end of another month. It is the end of another year. To me, the changing of a year is more a time to ponder more deeply eternity and being ready for the Lord. It's really just another day out of time with a different number of year, with nothing particularly special about it. But it does make me ponder the passing of time and how eternity is coming closer. It can make you think of the lost world so unprepared which is a sad thought too. But we are responsible for our own lives. So let's reflect on them and see if we are doing our best for the Lord in them, as we should always ponder our ways. And we can reflect on the Lord's blessings of the year gone by and rejoice in His goodness! We trust the future to Him and go forward in His strength! We have His Word and Spirit to guide us through the unknown. We know what is prepared for those who love Him after this life but we do not know what He has for us down here. But we have His promise that He will never leave us or forsake us! So no matter what, we have hope! Let us stay close to Him and He will to us too! He is faithful.

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Psalm 90:12

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:15-17

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Galatians 6:9

Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

James 4:13-17

Let us press on each day and submit to His will.

And so it is also time for another picture post catchup too.

A lot of pictures of the garden here which is going reasonably well for the most part.

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
James 5:7-8
There's so many things that can go wrong with getting a harvest. The heat on a few days have been damaging some things here, so it's just an extra blessing whatever you get. There's also hungry creatures, and also some tomatoes and potatoes have viruses so it's so good when you actually can pick fruits or vegetables! As that scripture says...long patience for the precious fruit of the earth! I can relate to that!

I know God designed the leaves of some plants to wilt on hot days to conserve moisture but sometimes it's just too hot and it kills the leaves like in these pumpkins below...

Looks like a frost has been through but one 40 degree C day did it. So there can be disappointments too but such is life in this world.

We got some artichokes before the snails killed most of them off. Very rare to have snail problems here but they loved these.

Not really a vegetable you can get much out of anyway so probably no real loss. Their flowers are huge and really pretty though!

One night I decided to cook a meal strictly with vegetables from the garden and eggs from the hens here.

Just salt and oil were store-bought and I made a frittata with them all. It's a blessing and satisfying being able to do that! Hard work with challenges but just simple and good.

We got some apricots again this year. We only have one tree which seems to be doing better now.

Many of the other fruit trees seem to be having a year off with not much fruit and a lot of leaves. But I am thankful for what we get!

As in that scripture I shared above, it mentions the husbandman, and I guess that's just an interesting translation and word we don't use today. But yes I am being a 'husbandman' working in the gardan and orchard here. There are more scriptures that use the word.

The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
2 Timothy 2:6-7

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
John 15:1-2

They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
Matthew 21:41
It also reminds me of the first man and woman on earth, placed in the garden. And the Lord told Adam that in the sweat of his face would he eat food. There is a lot in the Word about such things really, and spiritual lessons to learn as well.

Storing onions in the room I use for sewing...

I am trying them in bread crates this year as we had them in onion bags other years and a lot go to waste. But not sure how these will go this year. Hopefully better airflow to them all to keep them drier.

Good foods the Lord provides! I would share.

Learning how to use sourdough more too.

Apart from bread...

Using it in apple muffins...

Crackers...

And scones...

I'm still keeping reasonably busy with cleaning jobs in between everything else. It's a blessing to be able to support yourself more and be able to lay some aside in store for future needs of myself and others.

I am making most of my own cleaners lately. Maybe I will share the recipes sometime but there's a lot online to find.

Just good being in control and not using anything super toxic. Hopefully cheaper too.

And I have had quite a bit of sewing this month actually. I got several orders and also just adding more items to my store. So I am thankful to keep busy and have the strength and health for it. I'm sure you're keeping occupied in whatever good works the Lord has given you, sisters!

So that's about it for my monthly catch up picture post. It's just a blessing to live a simple life in quietness and peace in the land, minding our own business, and of course we have a high standard to live up to and are His witnesses here and ready to give an answer of the hope we have. The Lord keep using us in all good things. He knows where His own are.

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
2 Timothy 2:19

Keep fighting the good fight of faith sisters! It is a spiritual battle for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against spiritual powers of darkness. But God gave us armour!
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Ephesians 6:10-13

Hold fast, sisters! Fare well! Love, mercy, and peace unto you in His name.
