Today's Edification (26 August 2024)

Greetings to my sisters in the faith!

Yet another day is here. They just keep coming and going don't they, quietly slipping by one after the other. We are hurtling towards eternity...are we ready? Are you ready? Am I ready? Do we take the faith seriously enough? May our zeal be renewed to keep pressing on when we stop and ponder the reality of this life and eternity. Many souls are entering eternity each day. They say around 150,000 souls a day die worldwide (but that's obviously not counting the 200,000 or so lives of the unborn that are murdered each day, so sad and wicked.). We know few people who are capable of choice find the narrow road, so sadly most have chosen the broad road leading to death and God is the just Judge. It's all very sobering really. But makes you even more thankful to know the truth and the way and the life...Jesus Christ! But even many will say they knew Him but will be sent away on that great day as sinners. We cannot be sinners, continuing in wilful disobedience, and expect to enter. Sure we may fail but so many take sin so lightly and do not count it as deadly and repent asap. So let us strive on fervently sisters and cleave to the Lord with purpose of heart.

Sharing a psalm that we know is about our Saviour!

The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.

Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.

He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.

He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.

Psalm 110:1-7

I was reading in Malachi and it's quite an interesting book with much about our Saviour but this stood out as something we may also hear people say today...

Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?
Malachi 2:17

And reminds me of this too...

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Isaiah 5:20

Nothing new under the sun is there.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Hebrews 12:1

That's something I ponder how not only are we to lay aside sins but also weights. And I think how there may be things in our life or that we do that could be weights and hindrances. And if we remove these even if it means we have less things to 'do' we can fill that with extra time in the Word and prayer and examining our lives or refreshing in His creation or refocusing or something. Whatever good things we are capable of in the life God has given us. We can think we have to be 'doing something' all the time and a lot of the time we will and should be but quiet time can be good too as we can clearly see the distractions that satan has set up in the world and we don't want to be like that.

We know we are His witnesses. And while doing active evangelism in the gospel may seem like the greatest way to be His witnesses, our every day life is very important. Whether we have just a few people in our lives or who we may interact with or many (or even close to none), obviously people observe us. And perhaps the most obvious witness to our faith may be our biblical clothing but also our body language and tone of voice also and obviously what we do and don't do, what we say and what we don't say. So it's good to remember all this and I know we know it but every second we are His witnesses. And we can't either let down our guard for example at 'home' as we still are His witnesses in how we relate to anyone in the home of course. We are never off duty in the faith and we can never relax in that we don't have to keep on guard at all times. We don't want to even just 'go through the motions' doing our every day duties because we should do them heartily as unto the Lord and with thanksgiving and contentment! We are truly rich in Christ! And most importantly let us please our Lord as He sees no matter if any humans do.

Much fervent love to my sisters. I really hope we all press on to the very end. I am here to encourage you to do that! We see in the Word saints helping each other so it is God's design if possible. Reach out if you want encouragement and are following Christ in truth no matter the cost or want to!

May our great God be magnified!

Peace to you,

Sister Chayil
