Today's Edification (28 July 2024)

Greetings sisters in Christ!

Here's another day! Always a good one to serve the Lord! He has done so much for us and His grace is sufficient for us!

Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 1:3-9

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Ephesians 1:3-4

Awesome and uplifting scriptures to think on our Lord and the blessings and riches we have in Him!

I was looking at scriptures on the will of God and then there were so many good ones that I thought an audio on them would be best! Hope they are encouraging to you too to ponder on the will of God in the earth and also in our lives in our obedience and day to day of what happens. His will be done!

A few extras here too!

For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
Mark 3:35
Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
Colossians 4:12

Let us keep striving to do the Lord's will and trust in His will to be done.

I was thinking about our Lord learning obedience through suffering...

Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
Hebrews 5:8-9

We know He never sinned of course but He was still human and we know He understands what we go through. Let us keep being perfected and sometimes the best way is through trials. He has gone before us in obedience and opened the way for our salvation if we obey Him! Truly without Him we can do nothing!

Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
Acts 3:6

I love that scripture! He surely had something much better for him! And we too who know the truth of the gospel also have precious truth from the Word for those who want it and are seeking it. We freely give to those who are hungry yet for those who aren't we don't cast such precious pearls of truth to be trampled. Indeed we know the kingdom is as a pearl of great price we sell all for! And others must do the same and lose their lives for Christ and get a new one!

I mentioned the other day on my blog here about birthdays. I'm just sharing a bit more here to clear anything up. I emailed with a brother about it and so just wanted to make sure I am correct on it. I don't want to cause confusion or any kind of 'false guilt' in people. As we know we all must be preparing to stand before the Lord on our own and testing all things to His Word, sorting through all the false things in this world, cleaving to that which is good yet also not going beyond scripture.

I thought of this scripture...

A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

John 16:21-22

It is a wonderful thing when a human is born into this world. Even though it is a troubled wicked world with many trials to go through, it's still a miracle and special part of creation and what the Lord does! And yes we are preparing for our death and Solomon said about one's death being better than birth but each human born into the world is precious. And He gives us all the days that make up a year! And all the years that make up a lifetime! It's all to His glory. And we are here for His purposes not our own.

So I wanted to say while there are suspected pagan origins to some of today's 'birthday celebration', I am not believing that if a saint happened to be extra thankful to God the Giver of life for another year on the date of their birth I do not mean that would be sinful or if they did a few extra things than normal that weren't sinful. While the world does what it does with all the sinful things in many areas including birthdays (like partying, drunkeness, materialism, foolishness, joking and unsobermindedness, idle games, and other fleshly things) and we avoid all such ways of the flesh, as believers every area comes under testing and this would include what we spend our money on, what we spend time on, what we value, how we live life in general. So each thing we do and don't do goes through much testing...to the scriptures.

Now I choose to avoid all aspects of birthdays completely due to their general bad reputation, association with the flesh, and some in my opinion pagan origins but I am not saying if a saint did something or anything different on someone's birth date, they're wrong. I would encourage a sister to test everything she does and why and if it's not sinful like eating food, thanking God, or showing someone love etc just good pure and true simple things in the Lord then that's between her and God. If I told a sister I was thankful God gave her another year of life or gave her a meaningful or needed gift or cooked her something she especially liked on her birth date, I cannot say that's sinful! And while I could do all those things any day and it's good to do what we can to love others and care for them and appreciate them in the Lord, we can't just say 'oh I can't do anything today because it's your birth date and I might look like I'm being pagan'...it can get ridiculous and going beyond scripture and foolish. If a saint innocently and in good faith does any kind of recognition for the passing of time and the marking of another year or being reminded to be thankful for someone having been born into the world, I personally don't want to call that celebrating a birthday due to that meaning something the world does but anyway some things go into the area of being like 'straining at gnats' I guess or foolish. Anyway just trying to clarify what I believe on that. Let us do all we do with a good conscience, pure motives and hearts, and in faith and joy in the Holy Spirit. Let us strive on in the simplicity of Christ and be led of the Spirit, and giving thanks in all things, loving others, and glorifying Him! Let us keep preparing for eternity while we have life and breath!

I like these scripture too and leave you with them. Strive on my beloved sisters!

Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.
Acts 9:31

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
2 Corinthians 13:14
