Today's Edification (6 April 2024)

Greetings sisters!

The Lord is good on this day and forever!

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
Psalm 34:8

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Psalm 100:5

Sharing some scriptures on 'mercy and truth'...

Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
Psalm 85:10

But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
Psalm 86:15

Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.
Psalm 89:14

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
Proverbs 16:6

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
Proverbs 3:3

Let us love mercy and truth also.

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
Micah 6:8

As usual much wisdom that the Lord gave to Solomon in there.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Matthew 16:24

Thought that definition of deny was good to ponder...

Jesus said that's what we need to do. We know we crucify the flesh daily and keep fighting the spiritual battles and obeying the Lord.

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Matthew 16:26

Many people are not willing to give up everything, or even if it's one last thing for the Lord, not willing to lose their life to follow Him. They may not be willing to give up their unbiblical clothing for biblical ones. They may not want to give up pagan and false Christmas and Easter to simply serve the Lord His ways in spirit and in truth. They may not want to give up their idle entertainment to be useful for the Lord and His kingdom in things that actually matter. There are hundreds of things people would rather hold on to and lose their souls in, than give it all up for Christ. It's sad but the flesh is such an enemy that we know must be crucified. We want to be prepared for eternity don't we sisters.

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Galatians 5:24

I've had a busy day...mostly sewing actually. But almost done on the shirts. I hope all your good works done unto the Lord are going along well sisters. Good works serving those in your lives whether it be husbands, other saints or other people in general. We know Christ came as a lowly servant. What a great example He was in all things! Let us rejoice and be thankful to be like Him and not be discontent with what He has for us to be doing!

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Philippians 2:7

If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

John 13:14-17

This life is not about us and what we want but about serving the Lord and others. Yes of course many good things we will want and love to do...but how about doing things we don't particularly care for with joy as unto the Lord?! And then we can know it's not in vain and then you learn to appreciate doing many more things for Him. As John the Baptist said...

He must increase, but I must decrease.
John 3:30

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Philippians 2:3-4

God's ways are good. He is good! If you're having what looks like a 'bad' day...remember all His goodness and mercy and grace and love and light and blessings and remember that all things work for good for those who love Him and to remember we are to count it all joy when we fall into various trials and Jesus said to be of good cheer as He has overcome the world! We can forget when we're amongst all the things we may have going on but let us keep looking past the immediate physical things in front of us to the Lord our Rock and Strength and Redeemer and our hope to come if we endure! He is our hope. Let's press on after Him! All the things down here are so temporary but things we cannot see are eternal but we walk after them by faith being fully pursuaded that the Lord is the way, the truth, and the life!

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Keep striving on sister saints!

Grace, mercy, and peace,
