Today's Edification (19 April 2024)

Greetings sisters!

Another day is here to serve the Lord our great God! Let us rejoice and be glad in Him!

I love this scripture as it reminds me that even in our rejoicing we need to keep our fear of Him.

Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Psalm 2:11

We know there is a great lack of fear of God in the lands. But let us fear Him which truly makes us wise.

The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going. A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
Proverbs 14:15-16

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Proverbs 3:7

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Proverbs 8:13

In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Proverbs 14:26-27

We see that fearing God causes us to leave and hate evil. And yes we sure still are to fear Him in the New Testament after Jesus has come and if we believe in Him.

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Hebrews 4:1

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2 Corinthians 7:1

But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries....It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Hebrews 10:27,31

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Ephesians 5:21

Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.
Hebrews 12:28-29

Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
1 Peter 2:17

And there's more scriptures but let's have that wisdom sisters to fear Him to the point where we obey Him and do no want to sin against Him...for fear of His anger and the consequences. We obey Him because we love Him don't we also. And His goodness leads us to repentance and knowing there is so much hope to get up and keep going if we do fail. He doesn't keep our past sins piled on top of us and hanging over us, and crushing us! No! He is not cruel like that.

Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.
Isaiah 38:17

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:12

He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
Micah 7:19

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

I love those scriptures...plenteous redemption...abundant mercy...abundantly pardon! Praise the good Lord for all He offers those who turn to Him and follow after Him in fear and love!

I was pondering the Annanias and Sapphira account in Acts 5 and how it wasn't just some sin they fell into on the spot in the heat of the moment. No it was premeditated and planned together wasn't it. She didn't speak up to her husband and say she's not going along with it either as far as we know as she also sinned on her own accord. I was thinking it would be like say if one of us sisters sold a sewing machine or kitchen appliance or something and was giving the money to the body and told people we had sold them for $200 when we really had for $300. Not the same of course but it's obviously a lie. If we did that, the Holy Spirit and our conscience would convict us for sure.

And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

Acts 5:8-11

None of us want to get close to tempting the Lord either do we. Sin still leads to death if we don't repent and we can be thankful for the Lord's mercy on us all. But we don't want to abuse His mercy or tempt Him do we. He has done so much for us, how can we sin wilfully against Him? We want to serve Him in love and humble thankfulness.

I read some scriptures on 'perfect' that we are to be...

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Hebrews 6:1

Beautiful autumn day here...

To God's glory! But whatever the weather it's always a good day of His mercies which are very great!

Super tiny sunflower plant I found...

But still pretty even though it's ragged:-)

Fresh and pretty garden blessings...

Very fruitful lemon tree...
Let us also be fruitful in good works!

Pretty moon creation view while hanging out little people's clothes...

I hope all your labours are going well too sisters and you're doing your best and being diligent to the best of your ability for His glory!

More to ponder from the Word on how this life isn't where we're trying to live in pleasure and all the comforts of the flesh.

But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
1 Timothy 5:6

But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Luke 16:25

Our reward is in the next life! Press on sisters!

Though we can have joy at all times...we also need to be sober and watching don't we too.

But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
1 Peter 4:7

This life is not 'our best life now' in the physical things. There is a great seriousness to it all although there is so much hope and peace and joy and mercy and goodness and riches in it! We haven't attained yet. We are not safe with Him for eternity yet so we must press on. And this world is so dark and the times so perilous that it is a serious thing too. Hold fast till He comes sisters! There's a reason we are to be soldiers enduring hardness! It's a battle. But He gave us armour and so much hope that we can get through the battlefield. Our Saviour has made the way for us and we need to follow hard after Him.

My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
Psalm 63:8
