Be It Unto Me According to Thy Word

Greetings sisters!

How are you going today? I hope you are being faithful strangers and pilgrims on this earth, running this race with patience, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith! We know this life is not a sit-back-and-do-nothing life. We have to act don't we! And for the love of the Lord and all He has done for us that is a joyous thing even if it can be hard.

So today I wanted to share some more on the trust we are to have in the Lord and His will. I was thinking about Mary and how she submitted to what the angel told her would happen to her. And we know that was a big thing...Christ coming into the world to die for us.

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Luke 1:38

And I thought of how that is a godly attitude for any other godly woman and it could also go along with 1 Peter 3 about the holy women of old trusting in God and being in subjection to their husbands.

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

1 Peter 3:5-6

So we see submission to God first and also submission to male authority here. We know that is part of a godly woman's life being in obedience to the order God has established from creation. And that trust is putting down our own desires, our fear, our life even and going where God leads or obeying Him in and through all things. As we certainly know God has put men in positions of authority and the married woman submits to her husband even if she doesn't agree (except in sin of course).

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

1 Corinthians 11:3

And in both cases, trusting in God and submitting to authority women can all learn to do so willingly and joyously trusting that God is greater than all circumstances.

I read you a scripture to go along with what I shared about Mary; Luke 1:26-55. I guess it's some more of the context to what she said and it is interesting to see and be encouraged by the examples of other godly women.

What an unusual thing was told her...yet she trusted and submitted to God's will. Praise God for sending His beloved Son into this world!

And we see in this scripture the truth of a woman trusting in the Lord for her very daily needs.

Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day. But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

1 Timothy 5:5-6

Being submitted to God and what He has for our lives is something we surely grow in and have to adjust our focus in sometimes. Obviously the more we experience, the deeper it can become and even if we don't experience major trials we can be preparing our minds and trusting Him daily in all things.

I also thought of Esther going in unto the king risking her very life for her people.

Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

Esther 4:16

God is greater than all things. And we certainly know not to hold onto our own lives but be ready to lose them for Christ daily. A lot of these things are interrelated as it also has to do with not fearing and our faith in God and resting in Christ for our salvation to come! This world no longer holds us and we are seeking the world to come and storing up treasures there.

I like the attitude here of just submitting to God's will...

Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

Acts 21:13-14

We can be submitted to God if we are persecuted for righteousness sake too. We have been told to expect this and we can trust our souls to Him!

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

1 Peter 4:19

Ultimately we know that all that goes on in our lives is for good...for us who love the Lord if we are walking in His ways.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

So sisters maybe some of that was encouraging to you. I hope it was edifying with the scriptures and I know there's so much to ponder in each of our lives that we can't get to everything! Let us sisters be holy women trusting in our God no matter what goes on around us.

I think I know some of you sisters like this scripture too...

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.

Psalm 112:7

Amen sisters...let that be us, stedfast. It shows deep trust and inner peace. Reminds me actually of what it says in 1 Peter 3 about not being afraid of any amazement. Reminds me also of how we are to be sober-minded. Which reminds me that we need to be vigilant on guard for the adversary too. So many things to think about! What a great God we serve! Glory to Him!

OK sisters I need to go. Lord willing I shall be back tomorrow with something else to share. I know God has His faithful saints out there shining light into a dark world. That is encouraging because it is very dark. True faith is rare and unbelief and compromise abounds. Hold fast to the faith once delivered sisters! We don't know what may lie in the days or weeks or years ahead if the Lord has those for us. But we do know God will still be God and we can trust in our Saviour for forgiveness and find salvation. But we have this moment to make sure we are watching and ready, prepared, trusting in the Lord going about our duties as godly women.

The will of the Lord be done!

Love in Christ
