Eternal Thoughts

Good day in the Lord sisters!

Another day gone by that we will never have again.

"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

James 4:14-15

A sister was sharing verses on eternity with me this morning and so it got me pondering.

It's all amazing thinking of eternity and sometimes hard for our mortal minds to comprehend it all for sure.

This morning I was also reading these verses too and thinking of how we could lay up treasures in heaven. Of course we sisters also need to make sure we don't become or aren't attached to something or value too highly things in this life. And that may be things in the home often. We are blessed to have much but can we let everything go? It's all been given to us from the Lord anyway.

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

Matthew 6:19-21

Our heart will be where our treasures are. How true! We want our treasures to be above!

It's amazing to think of things we have here today that will also be in heaven too. Of course we have the Lord in the Spirit but shall be with Him for eternity. Another main one I think of is brothers and sisters in His family. Sadly most of the people around us will choose sin and the flesh and world instead of Christ and eternal life. So we will be eternally seperate from them. We hope they repent before that and there is hope for everyone for sure! (See the good news and how to find eternal life here.) And yes there is that seperation now of course in that we have so little in common with unbelievers or people claiming Christ yet living in sin. As scripture teaches we are to seperate from such people who live in sin.

Reminds me of this...of the great and final seperation. That's sobering isn't it - final. I hope people repent while there's time!

"There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead."

Luke 16:19-31

That is a serious warning for those who don't obey the Lord. Praise Him that we have these words and truth recorded for us. Let us heed them all.

"But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

Luke 12:20-21

I like the thought of being rich toward God instead.

So just some eternal thoughts for our day, sisters.

"Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.

For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him."

Hebrews 10:35-38

How have your days been going in Titus 2 keeper at home things? It does seem that my time spent in that area is mostly washing dishes. And cooking and those two are connected and important in providing food to sustain life. And then there is washing, drying and folding clothes which is also important as we need clothing. And then cleaning other areas in whatever time is left after all that in between communicating with and encouraging any sisters. There's always plenty to do in the Lord for sure.

I am doing a lot of sewing too these days. I decided to embark on a shirt sewing project and so I finished making a trial one today. I look forward to perhaps sewing more and then offering them on my shop too, Lord willing.

I had a piece of lightweight navy denim on hand so I used that but also look forward to trying some other types of fabrics.

And see if any changes need to be made before I make more.

So I think that's it from me for today. It kind of all goes along with my post yesterday about how we ought not to get too caught up in our duties that we miss the whole point of living for God etc.

"The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment."

Luke 12:23

Amen sisters! Let us live for eternity and lay up treasures above. And love our Lord and obey Him.

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory."

Colossians 3:1-4
