Today's Edification (2 August 2024)

Greetings sisters!

I'm writing to you again here...unto the Lord and hopefully edifying you too! May we do all things to His glory! And each day we get and the things we get to do are not to be taken forgranted! I don't think we can fathom all the hundreds of things that are working together to keep this creation together and going and enable us to do all we do! It truly is a witness to a great and almighty Creator God!

So I hope my sisters are standing strong in the Lord wherever you are! And I hope all your godly women's works are going well and the Lord is giving you all you need in them.

I was reading some in the book of Judges. So I'm sharing a few things that stood out.

And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so.
Judges 2:17

I was pondering on what it says that they 'turned quickly out of the way'. Sadly it is the human tendency to do so. We see it happening in the Word and also in people today even if they never were in the truth they may have stood for some more of God's truth than others and little by little they get assimulated into the world around them. It is compromise and I can think of the serpent in the garden saying 'has God said?'. But we want to hold His Word in high esteem and know...yes He has said all He has and means it fully too.

Reminds me of Daniel and his three friends that stood strong in a difficult place too. God is able to give us the strength to cleave to Him and His truth wherever but we also know that we have to keep fighting lest we lose our first love and zeal, or get worn down by this world and the vast numbers of the lost and compromising. And we don't ever want to think we're something lest we fall.

I also was pondering this and how God chose Gideon...

And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.
Judges 6:15

And we see that also in the New Testament in 1 Corinthians 1 about God using the 'weak and despised'. It's just encouraging no matter who we are, the Lord can use us if we're willing.

For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

That no flesh should glory in his presence.

1 Corinthians 1:26-29

I think this is interesting too that from 32,000 men it went down to 10,000 and then to just 300 so it could be shown the Lord delivered them and not their great army.

And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.

Judges 7:2-3

The Lord indeed shows Himself in many mighty ways all through the Word! I love reading or listening to find them!

We know they had to do a lot of physical killing of the wicked people around them back then and also among themselves if people sinned. We know it is different today though. Not that people don't deserve death any less but God's mercy, grace, and longsuffering is very great. And indeed we have a new and better way in Christ!

Catching up picture post today too! Just various good, pure, and true things from my days as I live for the Lord and do what's in front of me that He has for me. Always good to keep reflecting on all we do and make sure we are doing our best.

I printed some scripture pictures to put up in my little refuge. Just good reminders of good things in the Lord!

We can never remember His Word too much!

But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psalm 1:2

There's been such beautiful winter's days here. Spring is on the way though although winter started late really. Each year the seasons are a little different! So much variety within the usual times and seasons.

Pretty kitchen window view...
(And you can add in birds singing and slightly warm fresh smelling breezes:-)

Peaceful to work in the garden...

Perhaps I'm fighting a losing battle with the weeds this time of year and being away often...but oh well, do what I can! It's just so much easier to get them before they're too big and also there's a type (namely the stinging nettles) you think if you get them before they seed there will be less next year. But it's amazing how many seeds are in the soil! And it's time to be getting more good seeds into the soil that will produce food Lord willing!

I was also encouraging myself to keep going in thinking how it's the best time to work now because the mosquito season is coming, the snake season, and the heat so it's a blessing to work now without all those things!

Reminds me of a few scriptures that are kind of related about doing things while you can etc...

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
John 9:4

While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
Hebrews 3:15

(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
2 Corinthians 6:2

Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
Proverbs 3:27-28
Many things are good not to put off in this life...especially repenting to obey the Lord before it's too late.

In our Titus 2 and Proverbs 31 lives it's also good to think ahead and do what's best to prepare or do it in the best season for it. We aren't to worry about the future but that doesn't mean we don't think ahead at all to work out what may be best.

The broad beans are coming up...

They're still doing what God made them to do from the day they were created! Let us sisters also do what we were created to do!

Yeah sometimes the broccoli don't always produce one nice big head but still nice blessings to pick all the little bits...just more finicky and time consuming.

I'm thankful the aphids seem to have gone away mostly now. It took me such effort to get them out of the broccoli before cooking it or at least most of them so I'm thankful for that!

A soak in very salty water and swishing them around rapidly seemed to help get the aphids out of their hiding places some and also a quick boil covered in water before putting them into whatever dish you were adding them to. The aphids floated to the top. But it still didn't get them all out but anyway maybe they're fine to eat lol. Extra protein. Perhaps some people may use insecticides but I don't know about that and probably is best not to. Well I made some soap spray which really is hard to use on broccoli as there's so many places to hide and you have to coat the aphids, but it worked better on the cabbages.

So many flowers coming out!

For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.
Isaiah 45:18

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
Isaiah 6:3

And new shoots on the fig trees...

Nice moss covered rock...

So many creations to see and give Him the glory for and not steal His glory and give it to evolution or so called 'Mother Nature'!

I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
Isaiah 42:8

Here's a huge pile of tree trimmings etc that got burned on the property here...

Fire is an amazing thing really. It can bless or destroy.

Just as our Lord is in control of the wind and the waves...so He is of the fires and of course all His Creation!

If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
Daniel 3:17-18

He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, came forth of the midst of the fire.

Daniel 3:25-26

And yes we do wisely consider the end of this world is by fire and all who have not obeyed the gospel nor know God will be cast into fire for eternity. It's really very very serious this life. Utterly tragic to get wrong, glorious for His faithful obedient children and servants. Let us press on by faith.

Pretty sunrise window view this morning...

Indeed our God is great and worthy to be praised!

From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD'S name is to be praised.

The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.

Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high,
Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;

That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.

Psalm 113:3-9
Amen! Praises to Him! He has done all things well!

I think that's all for today sisters. If He wills, the Lord will enable me to share tomorrow again. Hold fast in the faith my sisters. Take courage and keep fighting on!

Love and a sister hug in the Lord!
