Today's Edification (7 July 2024)

Greetings sisters!

Here's a new day the Lord gave us! His mercies are new every morning! Great is His faithfulness! Let us go forth in our days being thankful and joyous in our good God and also fearing Him and keeping ourselves pure for Him.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

2 Corinthians 6:17-7:1

The more we learn of Him we see His greatness and our unworthiness to have anything to do with Him but to be sent away. But...He actually delights in His people! Isn't that amazing.

He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
Psalm 147:10-11
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
Proverbs 15:8-9
Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
Proverbs 12:22
They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.
Proverbs 11:20

That's quite amazing...but let us not abuse His goodness, grace, and mercy but strive to walk worthy of Him. After all we are doing that which is our duty to do but we are His beloved children born of the Spirit.

I was thinking about faith and how it makes us act as if we do fully see God. We don't see Him of course but we do much that looks like we do see Him if that makes sense! We know He's there and we obey Him. He gave us His Word and we believe that and follow as that is how He speaks to us.

I was also thinking how we are called to be faithful to God. And that would include being loyal to Him and trusting in Him consistently. It surely would involve being a good servant of His also. There is much more to faith than a mere mental knowledge of God and Jesus.

He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

Luke 16:10-12

His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:23

I know it's a bit different but think about what a faithful friend would look like or a faithful spouse. Why do people seem to think they don't have to be faithful to God as who He is...the Lord God Almighty who has the right to command things of us?

I was thinking of Noah. Yeah we know he built an ark. But do we stop and think enough just how much work he did to build it? Lots and lots! We was faithful to God, obeyed all His instructions, through it all and did not give up!

I like what it says about Moses here...he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.

By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
Hebrews 11:27

We too strive on obeying Him, enduring, as if we saw Him. One day we shall see Him face to face. Will we be ready?!

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

2 Corinthians 5:6-9

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Revelation 22:14-15

Will we have a right to the tree of life? Someone may say they do none of those 'bad sins' but we do know that any false thing and those who love them will not enter the kingdom too. But we sisters love that which is true don't we...and abhor that which is evil (including false things). It's just so refreshing thinking of God and everything to do with Him as being pure truth! And that He is completely just and loves justice.

The scriptures tell us things that would be included in that 'loving and making a lie'.

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
1 John 4:20
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1 John 2:22
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1 John 2:4

We don't want to be among those.

Surely false witness would also be included in that. Let us be careful in how we speak about others to make sure it is truthful. A lot of the time we may not know the facts of a situation or people so shouldn't speak of what we don't know lest it be false. Holding our peace would be wise in such cases. If we really test and examine it can actually be a common thing to flippantly say something about someone but as God's people we grow in seeing the depths of truth...including not making false judgements. It can be an easy thing to fall into until we see the depths of it and mature over time. We have to keep overcoming and enduring in the truth. Truth and facts matter to God.

We know loving the world is not in line with the truth and that includes it's holidays like Christmas, Easter, Birthdays etc and all it's idle entertainment. It is a lie to say we love God when we don't keep His commandments. We have been warned and we are wise when we take heed to God's warnings and commands to us. He wants none to perish. Just as faith and works cannot be separated so too loving God and obeying Him cannot be separated.

Let us continue to keep this scripture, examining all we do to make sure it's a good use of time and pleasing to God...according to His Word and not our own feelings.

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:15-16

I love this scripture...

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
2 Timothy 2:19

Amen...let us all depart from iniquity if we find any in our lives or fall into it ever. And let us take comfort knowing the Lord knows His people. May we rest in Him.

Strive on sisters and hold fast to the truth!

Love in Christ,

Sister Chayil
