Today's Edification (8 June 2024)


Greetings my sisters who love the Lord! 

I hope today you are strong in Him whether it is an easy or a hard day for whatever reason! In Him we have enough. He is our portion. 

I've had a fruitful day in Titus 2 and serving works and quite a lot of Bible study. His Word is the truth and there's so much that is opinion or plain false all around us. It's refreshing to ground ourselves in the truth. 


While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 

For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 

For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

2 Peter 2:19-21

His Word tells us the truth of what can happen. People who had escaped the pollution of the world through Christ and who go right back to them and are overcome by them. Jesus spoke of it too... 

They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 

And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 

Luke 8:13-14

It can happen and does so we know we must endure in the faith amen sisters. That's what we're working on day by day and want to be bringing forth fruit with patience! And growing in the Lord not being torn down or growing lazy or lukewarm. Let us keep our first love and our zeal to please Him! He is worthy! Otherwise we may end up in a place far worse off than if we hadn't known the truth. We don't want that for ourselves or anyone! 


It's good to ponder what the kingdom of God is. So I share some scriptures on the kingdom of God (from after Christ's death and ascension). 

And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
Acts 20:25

 

And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, 

Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him. 

Acts 28:30-31


Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 

Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 

1 Corinthians 6:9-11


Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

1 Corinthians 15:50


Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

2 Thessalonians 1:5

 

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Colossians 1:13


We know a kingdom has a King! And we are the servants obeying His commands. 

These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
Revelation 17:14

And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 

And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Revelation 19:15-16

Yes that's our holy Lord and King. Every knee will bow one day. Let us be His faithful and obedient servants worthy to receive the praise of "well done good and faithful servant"! There's a huge difference between that and being cast away into the lake of fire. Let us not waste this only chance we get in this life to get it right. We do not want to gain the world and lose our soul. We do not want to be foolish but wise. 


I see how the apostles all introduced themselves as the servants of God

Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
Titus 1:1-2
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
James 1:1
Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Peter 1:1

Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: 
Jude 1:1

And so am I a servant of God too and you sisters! Let's strive to be the best servants to the glory of our Master! He is good. 


Let us fulfil the law... 

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2


If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
James 2:8


For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Galatians 5:14


Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Romans 13:8-10


Interesting to ponder on that and live it out and grow in it.
