Today's Edification (13 June 2024)

Hello all my sisters who do the will of God!

We're supposed to be doers aren't we sisters! Lots of doing to be done! And the Lord helps us of course as without Him we can do nothing. We know He gives us faith and repentance and His Holy Spirit! It's His holy ways we will walk in and He will help us endure to the end! Let us follow hard after Him! Let us stay in His Word and not be moved from the blessed hope of the good news in Christ!

If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
Colossians 1:23

Let us continue in the faith sisters! Everywhere the written Word of God is...there is the gospel. Sadly people just don't read it. Well they do often but they don't obey it. In it, is written how one can find eternal life. And yet man would rather sit in a pew under a man and hear someone's interpretation of it. It is laziness and we know we must make effort...strive in fact...to enter the kingdom.

And there's people who think we need scripture...and...something else. No you don't need early church fathers and you don't need my blog nor do you even need me to explain the gospel to you if you have the New Testament. I'm really encouraging for people to get in the Word! If we don't think God's Word is the best and says everything the best way...I think we have a problem. Of course God can use people to help others. But they have to condense so much down and leave so much out that of course it's best people read the pure milk of the Word and I will always point you there. His Word changes not! I'm thankful for it in this world of ever changing humans. He is our Rock and His truth is a rock that won't budge!

While His Word changes not and humans of the world are constantly changing for the worse. I was think we should actually be changing to conform to the truth and as we grow in understanding. It's probably a problem if we're not changing/growing. We should never think we are done testing ourselves to the Word or think we could never be wrong. While the truth is a rock we are not! And we can't get too firm in our own understanding of the truth that we won't actually change to be more in line with the truth as we grow up in the faith no matter how long we have believed something.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

Proverbs 3:5-7

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

1 Thessalonians 5:21

We know it is essential that we have love for God as that really precedes obedience doesn't it. Otherwise they may be dead works right sisters? Of course we fear Him but we know doing things without love profits nothing! We know Jesus told the Pharisees that they had neglected the love of God. I don't want to do that and so I hope to be encouraging anyone I write (or speak) to on the gospel...about loving God. Think of all He did for us? We love Him because He first loved us. And we know it must be with our whole being and that's some pretty big love!

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.
Matthew 22:37-38

We know we must fear Him too so we do remember His severity but there is a balance between speaking of destruction and also hope through Christ! Some focus on all hellfire and others all on God loving us. Both are wrong we know don't we. So we speak of both as the Word does. "It is also written" Jesus replied to satan's twisting. With so much truth in His Word of course we have some liberty with what we share from it in the time we have to share with people and each situation we may be led to focus on something specific depending on what belief system the person has. Being Spirit led is of course speaking that which is from the Word but there's many different things to share from it. And many ways to state the same basic truths of the gospel (which is Jesus and all He did) and then our response to find eternal life (faith in Him, repentance to obey, and continuing in the faith to the end) and because of all this the miraculous work of a new creation the Lord does through His Spirit! Praise God for the guidelines in His Word!

Of course when you have a gospel card you have to only have a very tiny bit of information on there and it can be really hard to know what to include. In a way it really could 'water it down' a bit but you want people to go to the Word as we must live by every word of God! That's essential that we include on there to go read and obey the Word! Many 'gospel tracts' tell them to go to church to be taught but His Word and the Spirit are the best teachers. And in the rare case there were reliable and trustworthy teachers of the truth today we could point them there after much testing. We may not have that blessing in these perilous times but praise God we are not hopeless because of that as the Word really is all we need. And all saints can help the lost find their way of course.

We know godly love speaks the truth in love no matter how hard it is. God's ways are so high and amazing and good! There's so much growing we can do and we want to keep growing and growing amen sisters!

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
2 Peter 3:18

We can't let feeling bad for someone stop us from speaking the truth and loving their soul. Even though we do feel bad and that is a good thing I think as it shows we aren't cold and dead but are compassionate but we just have to do what's right and let God do what He does in each situation.

I hadn't got to travel to the children's yet...but did today. Thankful for safe travels. So I'm just catching up here on anything from the last place first. I'll have different serving works for awhile again...however long that is as I need to be quite flexible in it all. One day at a time though!

Thought all the little curls of wool on the lamb was kind of cute:-)

Wool is a good useful blessing.

Cute to see the mother and chicks just doing what they do...

They grow fast and soon there will be even more roosters around and hopefully some good egg layers. There's like already seven roosters or so around mostly from the last batch of chicks so there's plenty of crowing happening. 🐓 Hopefully they'll go to another home sometime soon:-)

Lots of water drops sparkling...

Water is an awesome creation and so essential for life.

Cute lil mushrooms...

And some more interesting fungi...

It's incredible the variety in His creations! Glory to Him!

I made some 4 ingredient cookies with a jar of applesauce I canned previously.

I guess I'll just share the recipe within my post here (and add this post to my recipe list page).

Applesauce Oatmeal Cookies

2 cups quick oats

1 cup applesauce

Few tablespoons of either honey or maple syrup etc. (This depends if the applesauce is sweetened or unsweetened though. Just adjust to taste.)

Add-in of choice (choc chips, raisins, nuts etc. I used currants here.)

Just mix together and shape and cook in a moderate oven. I appreciate such simple recipes:-) The recipe doesn't make a whole lot (my picture is a doubled batch but it's good healthy blessings and can be used for breakfast too.)

Since I'm talking about simple recipes. I'll add this one here too. I think I shared it already maybe but that's ok.

Applesauce coconut cake.

I cup applesauce

1/2 coconut flour

(may need a little sweetener depending on the applesauce)

Just mix and spread out in a small lined pan or baking dish and refrigerate.

And here's a baked oatmeal recipe for you if you like.

God is good to provide us with all this goodness.

So I traveled today and did a few bits and pieces of shopping on the way and several gospel cards went out.

This was right by where I needed to stop...

A place of death. Seeing one always reminds us of eternal things. Sadly we know most won't make it into eternal life. I offered some hope to whoever comes here though...

Of course there's many pagan rituals attached to such places and death these days but the scriptures speak a lot about tombs etc.

Saw this skirt in an op shop/thrift store and at first thought that's a good skirt....

But yeah those creases are meant to be flashy so...not quite right. To the world such stores would be loaded with 'good clothing' but it's really hard to find biblical ones.

Saw this in there too...

Yeah those are some of the fruits of the Spirit and even the world knows they're good qualities to have. They are also commands throughout scripture for us to keep.

Saw this in there too so offered some extra good news with it...

Sometimes, going on the state of the world, it's surprising what they still allow in stores. It says the wrath of God even. But I guess they want their five dollars too.

That's deep to ponder...God's wrath abiding on unbelievers (well we know fake faith is also really unbelief).

But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
Romans 2:5-6

For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
Colossians 3:6
As that scripture from John says...God's wrath abides on people. That's something to remember when we see people around us. Only Jesus, as our Mediator, will turn that wrath away from us when we follow after Him.
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
1 Thessalonians 5:9

Saw this sign about a sunken boat...

Made me think of this scripture...
This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

1 Timothy 1:18-19

We don't want to shipwreck our faith nor stumble others.

I remember I used to go to church (Baptist) as a young child in this town. No matter where we find ourselves born into this world...there is hope for anyone to come to the truth no matter how they were brought up.
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Timothy 3:15-17
The baptists have many false doctrines along with the other denominations  (particularly practicing Christmas and Easter, Lord's day, often believing in once saved always saved and other calvinist false doctrines, allowing much worldliness, unbiblical clothing, taking tithes, one man teaching, idle pew sitters and many such things). God's people must forsake all false ways as Jesus is the truth! False and true are not compatible!

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13

Thought of that scripture today when I had a physical lesson on escaping. I was turning into a short one lane road. I saw a man standing there looking around and seemingly waiting for something. As I turned into it, he was waving me in and started following after me (maybe drunk or on drugs too). I saw a bicycle laying over the road some distance ahead and I think it could have been a setup from him possibly to get money or I don't know. So I locked my door and swerved around the bicycle brushing past a plant on the side and hoped the lane wasn't a dead end one or I'd have to confront the man on my way out as it was a very short road. Then I saw my way of escape a super narrow road leading back out another way. Not that it was really a big deal, it all happened so fast, that just made me think of that scripture. God will not give us more than we can bear in this life. Trials are normal in our spiritual life...but He helps us keep going! He is greater than them all.

And this situation could have been very different if I was stuck there. And I don't know how I avoided running over his bike. That would have been challenging as I couldn't just drive off after damaging someone's things even if it was partially his fault. I would have had to call the police to mediate. And of course you can't just 'love your neighbour' in every situation especially as a single woman. You do have to use wisdom as this town is known as a very high crime area. There were other people around not too far away if he truly needed help. I don't know how to 'fix' bicycles either. No he was up to no good I'm quite sure but not making a false judgement. It's crazy...people will even mimic being wounded and hurt and then hope for people to show mercy and then pounce on them or whatever. It's a wicked world. Not that we fear but there is kind of like a natural type 'fear' that isn't sinful that stops us from endangering ourselves throughout this life. Like we don't jump off a cliff or just drive all over the road, or step on poisonous snakes, or put ourselves in foolish situations. Deep water has a way of putting in you some sense of dread and fear especially if you can't swim. I don't think that's sinful fear. Paul spoke about his fear too.
For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.
2 Corinthians 7:5
But where do we go with our fear that could be sinful? To the Lord and don't doubt or be faithless.
But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
Matthew 14:30-31
And we are to cast our burdens upon Him and be anxious for nothing. Our lives are His...not ours and everything works for good for those who love Him.

Some flowers for my sisters who love the Lord their Creator:-)

So very beautiful the things He made. And godly women are more precious than rubies too:-) Just sending you some cheer and good pure and true things in a dark world.

Keep enduring any hardness like good soldiers, sisters! And growing in His Word and the knowledge of Him and His ways!

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Colossians 2:6-7

Love in Christ,
