Today's Edification (17 April 2024)

Greetings to my godly sisters!

Here's another day to rise up in, and serve the Lord our great God!

And another day to focus on our duties right in front of us for the day...and do our best in them. That's all we can do really isn't it. That is pleasing to Him. We can be faithful in what we do have and know to do.

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
James 4:17

He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
Luke 16:10

I was thinking about the Lord's refining He does in us too and how He uses trials to do that through. There are many benefits to trials for sure.

Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
Psalm 119:67

But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
Job 23:10

Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.
Ecclesiastes 7:3

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
Hebrews 12:11

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
James 1:3

There's so many scriptures like that! His ways are not the ways of man who want to have an easy life. We are to rejoice in trials in fact!

And what is our hope through it all...

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5

He is too good to us and a good and caring Father to His daughters.

I hope all your works are going well sisters...good works in the Lord which are not in vain!

But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
1 Timothy 2:10

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Titus 2:14

And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
Titus 3:14

Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
1 Timothy 5:10

Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
Acts 9:36

Let us be full of good works and be able to be well reported of for good works...all because our Saviour has redeemed us and purified us unto Himself! May we bring Him glory through our good works!

I've had a busy but not too busy day serving. You know, there's all varying degrees of busyness isn't there. And throughout our days we just get to 'be' His daughters too. Content and thankful go a long way and we have to work on our thoughts if we aren't perfect in that no matter how small the imperfection.

Thinking about Jesus' heart for children in what He did contrary to what the people around Him thought...

And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

Mark 10:13-16

And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,

And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

Matthew 21:15-16

And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
Mark 9:36-37

Reminds me again also of that scripture passage about the 'weak' being what God uses. We godly women...with meek and quiet spirits...may also be considered one of those 'weak' things God can use. He also says about women being the weaker vessel and women winning husbands without the word so let us continue in our places knowing the Lord's ways are always best. Our ways aren't.

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

That no flesh should glory in his presence.

1 Corinthians 1:27-29

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Ephesians 5:21

Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:

Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:

Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:

The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:

The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

The LORD shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD.

Psalm 146:5-10

Awesome scripture! Well, one of many!

Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.

Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.

Psalm 71:3-5

And that one's good too. I'm thankful for His Word!

I wasn't expecting to be able to get outside on a walk in the evening but I was blessed to be able to briefly so I talked with my sisters to encourage you and read some scriptures.

Hope something I share can edify and encourage you to press on!

Hold fast sisters!

Mercy, peace, and love to you all in the Lord,

Sister Chayil
