Today's Edification (17 January 2024)

Greetings sisters!

I hope this post finds you striving on in the truth!

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

3 John 1:4

Here's some more psalm readings to edify you in our great God!

Simple good and pure pleasures seeing food growing fast from the ground...

Seeing and keeping even the smallest onion makes me think of being faithful in little...

And that's the way it is in life too...we ought to be faithful with every minute, every dollar, every soul we have opportunity to share the gospel with, etc.

I was thinking again of the human body in relation to the body of Christ...His saints.

But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

And if they were all one member, where were the body?

But now are they many members, yet but one body.

1 Corinthians 12:18-20

And how sometimes there may be pain, a broken leg, a cut etc. The Lord is the Healer though!

Also thinking about sin which needs cutting out lest it be like a gangrene.

But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker:

(2 Timothy 2:16-17a)

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Ephesians 4:15-16

That sounds like a healthy well functioning body!

I was also pondering how it isn't good to have to feel like you're 'walking on eggshells' as they say. We don't want others to have to feel like that in talking to us, or in us feeling that way in communication with others. Let us sisters be forbearing, longsuffering, merciful, patient, gracious, loving, kind and all the commands in scripture we must obey.

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Colossians 3:12-15

God's ways are awesome!

I also read some scriptures on forgiveness to bless and edify here...

Titus 2 point of the day...sober which is self controlled, moderate, sound in mind, teperate etc. It shows someone who is in control of their behaviour and reminds me of flesh killing too.

We see it (similar Greek word at least) in these scriptures as well..

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

1 Timothy 2:9-10

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Titus 2:11-12

Let us bring into subjection our flesh and mind.

I was also thinking of this scripture...

And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Acts 6:1-8

And how even for such a position as taking care of the widows 'daily ministration' they chose trustworthy men. We may think today that could have been a woman's job but we need to not go too far in our liberty of what roles the Lord has for women and what He has for men. I just think that is interesting to ponder and that the twelve disciples didn't want to get distracted from their ministry in the Word to 'serve tables'.

Thankful for daily bread the Lord provides...

Thank you sister for all the scripture pictures! (And thanks to God for my sisters who edify others!)

Keep fighting on sister soldiers!

Love in Christ,

Sister Chayil
