Hello again sisters!
Glory to God for another day to live unto Him who loved us and died for us! There is no greater love than He showed us!
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.John 15:13-14
He laid down His own life for His friends in His own power! No man took it from Him.
Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.John 10:17-18
And no, we were not serving Him in holiness, but in our sins and unbelief and false ways.
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:6-8
And this all does affect how we are to live and relate to others!
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
1 John 3:16-18
This is the high calling we have to follow our Saviour. He left us so many perfect examples of what it means to serve and love others, putting them first before ourselves.
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.Ephesians 4:32
And this is part of a larger parable which teaches us to forgive as we have been forgiven...
Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Matthew 18:33-35
Freely we have received...freely we are to give. And we love Him because He first loved us. And He teaches us to love one another. Surely it is all to His glory!
But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.1 Thessalonians 4:9
So let us keep learning and growing by the pure milk and bread of the Word of God!
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.2 Peter 3:18
