Today's Edification (10 August 2024)

Greetings to my godly sisters!

Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.
Philippians 4:21

We know the Lord knows His own children and where they are all around the earth! We may not, but either way we know we love one another! And if we know some of His children, that is an extra blessing and encouragement and refreshing!

But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
1 Thessalonians 4:9

But may our Lord be sufficient for us but it's His will for His people to help one another if they can! There's so much to fight against to overcome and we hope to do that to the end. It's not going to happen though if we aren't diligent about it and cleave to the Lord and love Him with all that we are.

But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
Hebrews 3:13-14

Hold so fast to Him sisters in this faithless and perverse generation that does not love the truth. The truth is the truth and it always will be no matter how man makes up all sorts of things that are supposedly the truth. Let us seek the truth with our whole heart. There's nothing else I want to do than to be pleasing to Him and obeying Him fully. And I trust my sisters do too.

I was pondering how suffering, trials, hard things and death should be the normal for us humans after we sinned. But God let's all mankind have good things too! So when people say "Why do bad things happen?", well we know why...a consequence of sin...but "Why do good things happen?" would be a better question I think! And the answer is simple...God is good! He is so merciful and longsuffering with humans isn't He. We see His just wrath poured out in the Flood. And His great love and mercy to send us a Saviour that whosoever wills may come to Him! It just kind of gives us a better perspective doesn't it to some commonly thought things where people think they should have everything good. Oh yes God intended that to be didn't He when He made everything very good but one sin destroyed much. Yes it's sad to see the suffering in the world but let us not blame God for this as it is the seriousness of man's sin...disobedience and rebellion. We know today people do not see the seriousness of sin but let us have the right view of it according to the Word. We long for His kingdom to come when it will all be put right. What a mess sin causes and even innocent things have to suffer. But God is good to let us have and see so many good things!

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Matthew 5:45

I think of Jesus also and how He did so much healing during His earthly ministry. Only He had the power to remove the effects of sin and the power to forgive sins! We see Him warring against the devils as well as He cast them out of people. We know it is a spiritual battle.

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
Acts 10:38

Another question is..."Why did God suffer for us?". The answer again is that He is good and merciful and kind isn't it! Yes all humans experience suffering because of sin but God also suffers doesn't He and did when Jesus died on the tree for us. He made the way so all who believe and obey Him may be able to be set free from the sufferings for all eternity! This is such a short life we have to pass the test of our faith. The Father seeks those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. We know we have to diligently seek Him by faith! So let us overcome through our Saviour!

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:57
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:4

So let us see all the blessings and good things the Lord allows us to have on this earth despite what we have done. Glory to His name! Let us sisters keep striving to please Him as we were once lost sheep but have returned to our good Shepherd!

For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
1 Peter 2:25

Let us hold God and His holiness, truth, and light as precious and not take anything lightly. Let us revere and fear Him and yet have confidence in our Saviour. Let us not trample His precious blood or bring reproach upon His name by any actions contrary to His ways. The Lord help us.

I was thinking on the whole subject of rebelling and what it is. It's something we don't want to do of course. We see much in the Word about it and God dealing with rebellious and stiffnecked Israel. How long suffering He is.

So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.
Deuteronomy 1:43

Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.
Deuteronomy 9:24

But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers.
1 Samuel 12:15

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
1 Samuel 15:23

To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
Daniel 9:9

Let us not rebel against Him but submit to His ways and obey Him with willing hearts. And praise God for His forgiveness as we have all fallen short of His glory. God is good and how much more shall we forgive our fellow man! Let us rejoice in this hope and keep walking in the fear of the Lord!

As we live by every word of God, we do see there is a place for separating from people. Or for some words the scriptures use...avoid, not keep company, withdraw etc. It doesn't mean we don't love them but we obey God first. As often happens, many scriptures get abused by some and ignored by others but we want to do neither but obey them in their context right sisters. There is always a lot of discerning to be done and strengthening ourselves in the reminders of the truth.

I hope each of you are standing for the Lord wherever He has called you. Keep fighting in the battle my sisters and don't grow weary in it. There's so much against the truth and enemies of the soul but our God is able to deliver and keep us!

Let us keep being patient and waiting on the Lord!

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Psalm 37:7

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Psalm 27:14

Love to you all,

Christ's servant,

Chayil
