Today's Edification (17 June 2024)

Greetings sister saints!

Coming back to edify you in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord! Anything outside of Him is vain. Reminds me how people slap His name on many sinful things to perhaps try to make them 'good' or something. But it never can be done as what God says is sinful still is sinful. And there's many false Christs too. But let us follow after the one true holy Saviour!

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58

We may have a great variety of labours in the Lord. May we remember they are not in vain! Some may seem 'in vain' like sharing the good news of Christ with people who don't care about it. But we did it unto the Lord not man. Or if we try to lovingly correct someone...and they don't seem to appreciate it. Well you did your part and that's their problem. We can know our part was not in vain and you never know when hearts will be humbled and the Lord use your efforts for His purposes. His Word and truth never goes out void! So keep pressing on sisters! Never grow weary in doing good! The Lord sees it all.

Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;
3 John 1:5

I hope you're all pressing on in your own good works and duties wherever you are.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
James 1:22

We need to be doers...but in order to know how to be doers that please the Lord we need to hear first! Let us read and understand and obey the Word of truth diligently. We can be like Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus hearing His words even though He isn't here we have His written Word and in that we are so blessed!

Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

John 20:29-31

We have to know about someone before we believe in them! I'm thankful God told us about our Saviour through which there is no other name to be saved!

This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Acts 4:11-12

We know faith in Christ is our foundation for salvation...yet some may just flippantly say 'just believe in Jesus' to be saved and not explain all He is and what the cost is etc. We know our focus must be in Christ...and obey what He requires of us.

It's probably about time for a Titus 2 refreshing!

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Titus 2:3-5

How are we women doing at all these things?

Are the older women...

Behaving as becomes holiness (reverent demeanor)?
Not falsely accusing (slandering)?
Not given to much wine?
Continuing to teach good things?

Are the younger women...

Being sober (having a sound mind/sensible)?

Loving (friendly/affectionate) to their husbands?

Loving (friendly/affectionate) to their children?

Being discreet (self-controlled)?

Chaste (pure)?

Keepers (guard/watch) of the home?

Obedient (submissive/subject) to their husbands?

Hopefully, in whatever applies to us, we are obedient to all these sound doctrines! We do not want God's word to be blasphemed if we are not.

Let us be very careful how we judge lest we end up condemning ourselves in the process...

Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Matthew 7:1-2

Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?

Romans 2:21-22

So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

James 2:12-13

He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
Proverbs 18:13

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
James 1:19

Let us speak of only that which we know for sure lest we be foolish.

A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
Proverbs 29:11

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her...And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

Luke 1:38, 46-49

I like thinking about being the Lord's handmaids...us sisters. We know that means we serve and please Him...our Master! Let us be submitted to Him and faithful handmaidens of His!

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2 Corinthians 6:14

Pondering how you simply can't be in agreement or fellowship with or be close to the world or 'believers' who do not want to obey all truth. The two will be incompatible. Oh we are called to be at peace with all if possible but this is not closeness or unity or true fellowship.

That can only happen in Christ. And that is the true Christ and all His holy ways.

That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
1 John 1:3-4

I was thinking about the covenant we are in if we are in Christ. We sure have our part to be faithful in and He does His part!

After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

1 Corinthians 11:25-26

And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

Hebrews 12:24

Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Hebrews 13:20-21

Let us strive to be faithful in our part of the covenant. That would be keeping His commandments right sisters?

Just sharing all sorts of things that came to me today. Hope it was edifying.

Keep pressing on my sister soldier saints!

Love, mercy, and peace to you,

Sister Chayil
