Today's Edification (15 June 2024)

Greetings sisters who obey Him!

I hope you are strong and of good courage today! Our Saviour has overcome the world!

They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.
Isaiah 41:6
Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.
Psalm 31:24
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Psalm 27:14

Keep pressing on in your good works sisters in whatever calling you have. We are all different and as long as the works are biblical (because of our new life!) we can rejoice in them! We know some of the works that are pleasing to God in general in scripture...from the direct commands God gave to women. We are blessed to have these. And He gave us the liberty within them to how exactly to do them. I was thinking that He didn't give us such detailed commands as in the Old Testament. We know it is faith which works by love. Many commands we have for sure but they're quite different to the type in the old. We know we worship in spirit and in truth.

Sometime I think of 1 Corinthians 7 and ponder how I put into practice seeking to please the Lord without distraction. Being more free to labour in the Lord and the gospel in the ways of godly women (and learning that as I go) would be one I'm sure. Helping women as I can by email who are asking questions and such and caring about their souls. Encouraging sisters either here or by message/email too. I just have more time to do so not having a husband to try to please nor children that would rightfully take up my time if I had them both. So I want to labour diligently for the Lord and be faithful in each circumstance the Lord has in my life. Being kind of like a servant yet having quite a lot of spare time beside that, most of my ministry is online. I do not believe in women street preachers either so a woman labouring in the gospel is as she goes about daily life (as there's not likely going to be a body to help in the gospel with) and if the Lord has her interact with people. And I do send emails to women online too. Sharing the good news of Jesus with them! That's the best thing to talk about with them if anything!

So I'm pondering 1 Corinthians 7 freedom for single women and how to use that biblically. Of course it doesn't negate the commands not to teach men or usurp their authority. As usual, technology can create various challenging situations to try to discern rightly and there is various liberty within the commands of scriptures. Just do your best sisters and learn as you go with the Lord leading within His Word. We bring our actions into submission to His ways. There's many to remember at once and some where two may conflict and we have to obey one over the other, if that makes sense, but we can only do our best with a humble pure heart. And perhaps the Lord will chastise us if something we did wasn't pleasing to Him. And if something is pleasing to God, it definitely doesn't mean it's pleasing to man. Let us test all things to the Word and obey God over man.

Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Acts 5:29

We have to keep going though lest we say, "Oh I'll make too many mistakes if I try to do things, so I won't do anything and just sit in one place". No, we just have to keep walking in the truth the best we know seeking His help, guidance, and wisdom! We all have different callings and we can't be comparing each other nor thinking one is higher than the other if that's what God's will is for each of us. And wherever we are we are the Lord's servant and yet free! We are complete and rich in Him. And a quiet and peaceable life is good too as the Lord wants us to have such a life.

We do have to be very careful what we do in Christ's name. In the extreme, there's people who know of the murder and abuse in the so called church over the ages (Roman Catholic etc). There's those who know of the extreme greed and luxurious living in the so called church in those who are of the prosperity gospel. There's those who are stumbled by sins against them in the various denominations. And there may be those who act contrary to sound doctrine who may also stumble people. In all these and many more cases we can't put people's wrong doing contrary to the truth and hold it against God and His pure and good ways. No, they're acting contrary and it's not God's fault. People can't get bitter or angry against God and just give up on truth. But those who stumble others also will not be blameless we know too even though everyone is responsible for themselves. Let us not blaspheme His name by our conduct or give any occasion for the adversary to speak reproachfully.

No matter how much we cling to the Word there will always be someone saying we are corrupting it. His Word is not corrupt! I am encouraging others to go study the gospel and other women's subjects and everything in the Word! It says what it says. You can't get better and purer and as uncorrupt as possible as explained in there!

Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

2 Corinthians 4:1-3

Let us focus on our precious Saviour and all He did for us to make that way possible that we may not abide under God's wrath but be reconciled through Him!

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
1 John 5:1
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Romans 5:1-2
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
 2 Corinthians 7:10
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
 2 Corinthians 5:17-18
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
John 15:10
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
1 Peter 1:23
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
John 15:4
In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
Colossians 1:22-23

Just a few precious truths from His Word for us! But we live by every word, not just some!

I was pondering on the parable of the prodigal son. He didn't just believe in his father and his riches. He had to come to himself and then leave behind his old vain life and return to the father, repenting and seeking his forgiveness and then remain with the father of course.

And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

Luke 15:17-20

We know there is joy in heaven over a sinner that repents! We know that joy too when we see someone repent but it's quite rare when anyone truly repents all the way and sincerely.

Hold fast to the faith once delivered sisters! And that means being diligent and faithful in your Titus 2 works too as that is part of the true faith once delivered (and perhaps a large part it may seem). I want to keep helping build up my sisters and encourage you in every good work. Rejoice in the blessed hope to come and strive to endure to the end!

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Revelation 12:10-11
