Today's Edification (23 April 2024)

Hello sister saints!

Another day is here. And the Lord is always good! I hope you're each pressing on sisters. There's so much against us on this troubled earth and so much that can discourage us...but...let us focus on the Lord and His greatness and all His gifts that are available to all who seek Him diligently! Praise Him and let's keep labouring and fighting for the incorruptible, sisters!

That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Colossians 1:10

I was pondering on how we are to be increasing in the knowledge of God.

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
2 Peter 3:18

And where do we learn about God through? His Word. And all of His Word too not skimming over parts we may not 'like' or parts about God's severity and wrath on sin and sinners who don't repent. That is a common thing of man to make their own 'god' or something up from part of scriptures. But we do our best to try to understand such an infinite awesome God with our finite limited minds. Thankful to have His Word to show us all we need to know though! Let's keep growing in our knowledge of Him sisters! And I'm sure as we do...we will be decreasing as we see His greatness compared to how puny we are.

Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,

Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

Job 40:1-7

Pondering this again how God forgiving us is tied to us forgiving others...

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Matthew 6:12
And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Luke 11:4

More of God's deep high and holy ways to keep in practice.

We don't want to be like this servant...

Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
Matthew 18:32-33

Let us have compassion on others because the Lord has shown great compassion to us in forgiving our sins!

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
1 Peter 3:18

He truly suffered the greatest injustice possible. Now that is true love. He was a completely perfect and sinless man...yet He suffered horribly for us wicked humans when we were still in our sins.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

If that doesn't cause deep thankfulness and love for Him and a desire to serve Him to the end...we are dead. No we didn't see Him suffering for us in the judgement hall and dying in open shame and agony on the tree and rising again victoriously and we didn't see the stone being rolled away and the empty sepulchre...no. We believe by faith from the Lord's word and all the hundreds of eyewitnesses.

Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

John 20:27-29

Many of our sisters were witnesses of these things too! They were very faithful to Him to the very end...and beyond!

And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:
Matthew 27:55

And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
Mark 16:1

What a time that all was in their own lives but most of all for the whole world! Glory to God for a Saviour for the world!

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 4:23-24

Pondering how we are now worshipping the Father in spirit and in truth. Of course there's still many physical aspects of our worship of course as our bodies are a living sacrifice and we 'do' much and we have His physical written word and clothes and headcovering and such as we are still in our fleshly tabernacles. But compared to the Old Testament...well we can clearly see the difference in how things have changed to the new and living better way in Christ and His Spirit!

Just some various simple edifying today for you. Many subjects to think about from His Word and to test how we're doing in as well. We know the Lord works in us but that doesn't mean He does it all. Not at all! We have so many commands for action including putting off the old man and putting on the new and leaving darkness to walk in light.

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Ephesians 4:22-24

I guess I didn't know there were two places in scripture about that...but now I do.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Colossians 3:8-10

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Romans 13:12
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
1 Peter 2:1

Casting off something evil to replace it with the Lord's better ways!

Let us rest in God sisters. Strangers and pilgrims we are on this earth as it is not our home and we don't feel comfortable here. And there's nothing we love in this world. Let us wait on Him and keep looking to Him to bring us through!

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Psalm 37:7

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Psalm 27:14

Keep pressing on sisters! Let's not grow weary in well doing. If you have a mountain of dishes to wash at the end of a tiring day (or whatever it may be for each of you)...just one thing at a time and focusing on things above and all His blessings and it will be done! So too our spiritual life...one situation and day at a time and we shall overcome and be done in Him! Hold fast my sisters! Be strong and stedfast and stablished in the faith! I love my sisters in the Lord very much and would hug you all if I could and help you if I could too:-) The Lord keep you and watch over you and I pray you strive on to the very end.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
2 Timothy 4:7

Mercy unto you in Christ,

Sister Chayil
